The book takes too long to get it's points across. There are a lot of talk about studies to show how attention can wonder but all that does is point out the obvious. Don't get me wrong, there were good points, but this book could have been a 3 hour book and would have been just as if not more effective

When I started listening to this book I wanted to take it slow, to digest it, to really be able to learn and apply what I heard. I was not disappointed. This book is so practical and teaches you exactly how to train your mind for clarity and to be able to thrive in the busyness and chaos of modern life. We all know that there are so many distractions. Whether it's the social media scroll, dings from messages, or even your own stressful thoughts, you can learn to take back control of your mind. This book teaches you how.

I almost never finished any books 100% but I did this one more than once. I found it as I was looking for books for burnout recovery and it serves as a beacon and offers me hope. The author takes a highly compassionate approach throughout with every claim being backhoes by scientific evidence, which appeases a mind like mine. I have been trying to do meditation way before this book but what this book does is to help me understand the why and goals of meditation.
Another aspect worth mentioning is the narrator. Audio books are like a voice production- it’s never only about the screenplay. The actor counts. And you can say it twice about this audio book production.

The book could be very useful for many people but you could pretty much just skip to 3 hours in and get to the point.

First responders I've worked with have always expressed how quickly breathwork help them switch out of a stressed state. This book went even deeper teaching the us specific breathing meditations. Amishi even lays out a program that has proven to work fo military to help them focus and stay calm under pressure.

I now work with kids with big emotions and the techniques laid out in this book the parents and kids I work with are greatly benefitting from.

I recommend reading the book and not listening to the book. The voice reading this book is the worst I’ve heard. Siri would have done a better job.
