Description

Roark von Graf - hedge mage and lesser noble of Traisbin - is one of only a handful of Freedom fighters left, and he knows the Resistance’s days are numbered. Unless they do something drastic...

But when a daring plan to unseat the Tyrant King goes awry, Roark finds himself on the run through an interdimensional portal, which strands him in a very unexpected location: an ultra-immersive fantasy video game called Hearthworld. He can’t log out, his magic is on the fritz, and, worst of all, he’s not even human. He’s a low-class, run-of-the-mill Dungeon monster. Some disgusting, blue-skinned creature called a Troll. At least there’s one small silver lining - Roark managed to grab a powerful magic artifact on his way through the portal, and with it he might just be able to save his world after all.

Unless, of course, the Tyrant King gets to him first...

From James A. Hunter, author of the litRPG epic Viridian Gate Online, and eden Hudson, author of Legend of the Treesinger and the Jubal Van Zandt Series, comes an exciting new litRPG, dungeon-core adventure you won’t want to put down!

“An excellent start to a series, this book has everything I look for in a fantasy novel: action, intrigue, and evolution!” (Dakota Krout, author of the Divine Dungeon and the Completionist Chronicles)

nick

podehl.
any book this man can make into a masterpiece I swear it. the book itself is moderately good, it's a little different and I think I love it! but nick podehl is truly a masterful reader. he puts emotion into every word that many other audio readers fail to even come close to. listen to all of Nick's books, and you'll know exactly what I mean.

Solid start to a unique series.

There are a few things that make this series stand out. I like the guy from a pure fantasy world tossed into a video game world concept, I like that respawning is a dangerous prospect. Especially for the monsters. Characters are pretty decent. I like the diversity of troll types and evolutions.

Not A Dungeon Born Clone

If that’s what you were worried about...because I was

It’s actually a very unique premise: guy in a fantasy world screws up a teleportation spell and finds himself as an enemy NPC in a video game. Not that he even knows what a video game is. And then he proceeds to farm the players for THEIR loot. It helps that the players are a pretty realistic representation of real gamers. Self-important, entitled assholes in other words

Fun take on the genre

This is a fun book, with a good mix of world building and adventure. Though I will say it will not answer many of the questions you will have. Instead, it will leave you with more questions right up until the end. It is well paced and enjoyable to get through, yet it will leave you unsatisfied until you continue with the series.

Solid performance by narrator Nick Podehl, who brings a well polished feel.

Overall, I recommend Rogue Dungeon, as long as you plan to continue with the remaining books.

It was ok

The story was ok, both the author and reader put too much emphasis on sword techniques and their pronunciation, and the differences in characters levels made no difference. All in all, it was Ok at best.

Found a new series to put on my short list.

This is an amazing series, Nick always does amazingly well, and this is no exception. I throughly recommend this to any fans of Nick, Fantasy, or LitRPG. This is also a very interesting take on LitRPG, it's not the standard, person either gets stuck in, or just regularly plays VR. I highly suggest it. This is definitely a book that is on my top 5 as far as favorite series goes.

Terrible character names

PwnerBoner007? Seriously? That's super annoying. Don't do this if you're an author. And be warned if you're a listener: certain aspects of this book are gonna annoy you. But it gets great around five hours in. Book 2 will be better.

Rushed and short

I Pre-ordered due to recommendations. Unfortunately it is not up to snuff. Feels like there's a good story to tell but instead it was rushed.
The character seems to rush into challenges under prepared with no actual reason to rush. More to lose then to gain.

Only good part was the narrator - and Kaz.

A phenomenal and fun world to immerse myself in!

This story did not go where I expected, in a great way. The humor was on point and Pwner Boner was both hilarious and depressing because I've encountered similar characters in real life. This was my initiation into litrpg and the bar is officially set!

Great story, just not my cup of tea

I enjoyed this story. Pretty interesting take on the game world.

In the end, it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

I look forward however to discovering author books by these authors and narrator.

Thank you for your book.
