I love how elements of this story continue to take me by surprise. This book is terrific. For something I felt could have been a predictable fight vs good and evil, God and the Devil sort of thing, the story has surpassed that. Love the characters, they’re so compelling and the bargaining they all do with one another and within themselves, the fight of morality in and outside of their minds…Chef’s kiss 😘

Corban the emo King got everything he deserved by the end of this book. It's honestly like watching a 90s scary movie. While I've enjoyed it I think I did myself a disservice by starting with Hunger of the God's as my first John Gwynne read. Still looking forward to Wrath and his other series tho 😊

I found this instalment in the series really dragged on. It could have been half the length and still provided a bridge to the final novel.
It was very much a rinse and repeat theme with similar scenarios throughout.

The accents were bizarre at times. Some sounded like the Deep South while others sounded Welsh. I didn’t notice that in the 2 previous novels. It was jarring at times.

I just want this series to end. It’s nowhere near as good as Hunger of the Gods.
