À propos de cet audio

Contains all five books in the Station Cores series:

  • The Station Core - Book 1
  • The Quizard Mountains - Book 2
  • The Guardian Guild - Book 3
  • The Kingdom Rises - Book 4
  • The Other Core - Book 5

In addition, there are some bonuses:

  • Hand-drawn maps (admittedly done by me without much artistic talent) that I used to help me write the series
  • A fun 12,000-word short story that combines the Dungeon World and Station Cores universes.

Milton Frederick was originally abducted from his apartment to help defend one batch of pacifistic aliens called The Collective against another set of homicidal aliens called Heliothropes...but he never quite made it that far. Instead, during the process where his human consciousness was ripped from his body and inserted into a massive metal contraption called a Station Core, the ship that he was being transported on blew up and he was sent hurtling through space.

Crash-landing on an unknown planet with just a foot-and-a-half tall, foul-mouthed, nanite-formed AI guide called ALANNA to tell him what happened, Milton has to come to terms with his new existence as a giant metal egg, defend his hazardously-in-need-of-repair outer shell from the dangerous local wildlife (including blood-thirsty squirrels), and manage the unique radiation spewing from his damaged internal reactor - all while figuring out how the heck to get off the planet.

All of his work building a “dungeon” underground, defending it with makeshift traps, and filling it with small Combat Units may work well enough against the random beasts wandering around, but they’re next to useless when something else even more dangerous shows up knocking on his door: people. Not humans, of course, but the local equivalent - Proctans - who are similar enough to Milton’s original species...though with one major difference.

They all have unique special abilities that looks suspiciously like “magic”.

However, there is an even bigger threat that looms on the horizon not only for Milton, but all the Proctans as well....

this was a well-written story, with an equally superlative narrator. I appreciated that the stats had their own mini chapters, which will make rereads easier if I don't want to listen to the stats the whole way through again.

it was also nice that there were no massive Cliffhangers; I didn't have to stay up for an extra 5 hours to assuage anxiety about the outcomes. they weren't obvious, but I also wasn't a bundle of nerves because I clearly see that it would work out well, even when I couldn't see how it would.

All in all, 10 out of 10, very well done. I look forward to future works and have already started the dungeon crafting books.

a great story

Really nice story and delivery. It was easy to follow and I was interested until the end. Recommend to anyone.

the book overall was good. an enjoyable listen and progress, dont get me wrong i love stats. but parts in book 3 and 4 where it was just ridiculous. made me feel like my time was robbed. as in the big spiel of indepth stats does not need to be followed up by the same stats just slightly shorter. overall though the book flowed very well and I throughly enjoyed the little add on at the end.

omg stats

Over doing statistics is the bane of the lit rpg genre. This book series is the worst of the worst. literally half the book is useless stats and numbers that NEVER have any bearing on the story at all. why tell us he has plus 500 to some stat, when he goes to use the ability nine of the numbers are even mentioned or taken in to account. they are listing full chapters of stats for things that NEVER matter to the story.

this could have been a good book. as it is here, it's just useless stats porn. it's disgusting and lazy. The book suffers from it and the ability to enjoy what would ha e been a decent story is stolen from you by having to skip several full chapters of useless stats that don't add to or matter to the story at any time.

stay away from this series and this author. save your credit for and author and story that respects your time and does not destroy an entire series just to pad their word count with useless, unimportant stats that NEVER EVER matter to or are used by the story.

useless stats make up over half the book.
