great series!
I enjoyed this whole series! It took so long twists and turns, it kept me interested and loving it the whole way through. This book was a nice ending to everything. Lots of action and resolutions, and I really enjoyed the battle in the underworld. Lor and Nadhir are just perfect and I loved their story throughout!

Enemies to Lovers, and to Eye-Rolls
Alright, final thoughts on The Sun Trial series?
It’s kind of insufferable. 😬
I really wanted to like it. I gave it every shot — read the entire series — but honestly? I only stuck with it out of sheer stubbornness and that deeply unhinged reader instinct to just finish the thing once I’ve started 😅
Let’s talk about Lor. She’s not perfect — and that’s totally fine. I love a flawed heroine. The issue is that no one in the book ever treats her like she has flaws. Especially her love interest. She does the literal unthinkable — to him, no less — and yet somehow, he still walks around acting like he could never live up to her glory. Like… sir?? You okay?? 😩
It crossed a line from romance into blind devotion that made it hard to root for either of them. I wanted someone to just see her clearly. But nope. Every time Lor is even slightly wronged, the entire universe feels like it owes her a handwritten apology and a fruit basket. Meanwhile, other characters go through objectively worse things and barely get a footnote. It’s wild.
Also — and I say this with love — the dialogue? Yikes. It reads like a fantasy soap opera half the time. Lots of dramatic tension, little substance. “What are we going to do?” / “I don’t know, what are you going to do?” vibes. Occasionally clever, but mostly flat.
Now for the spice 🌶️: I’m all for a good spicy scene. Love it. Fully support it. But when you’ve got spicy scene after spicy scene and the only thing that’s changed is the room they’re in? It starts to lose its edge. Tension can’t build when it’s constantly being... relieved. 😂
Then there’s the POV situation, which I’ll be honest, did not work for me. There were too many characters treated like “main characters,” and the constant back-and-forth — often mid-high-stakes moment — just ripped me out of the emotional thread. I felt like I was trying to care, but the momentum and empathy kept stalling. I totally get the appeal of multiple POVs when done well, but here? It just felt excessive. Like the story was being pulled in too many directions at once.
Book 3 was basically a very long spicy interlude with a plot cameo.
Book 4 tried to bring plot and spice, but the plot felt paper-thin.
And the whole thing lacked the depth and payoff I kept hoping would eventually show up.
To be fair, the series does deliver a decent happily ever after at the end — so kudos for at least sticking the landing 🙃 But wow… what a missed opportunity. It had all the ingredients for something great: betrayal, palace politics, gods, tension, even moments of genuine emotion. But instead of soaring, it kind of crumbled under the weight of its own mess.
Final verdict: 2.5–3 stars.
Not my cup of tea.

I finished it — but mostly because I started it, and I’m too stubborn to DNF 💀

BEST SERIES I HAVE EVER READ!!
You must read this book and start with Tales of the Sun King. Your life won't be complete without this series. Trust me on this! BEST FANTASY SERIES EVER WRITTEN!!!

The female main character and what she has gone through
I loved this series. It was exciting and interesting. The audio was done well. Now I want to find out what happens with the other characters.

Disappointing
Loved the first 3 books but this one really disappointed. Just forced myself to listen to the whole thing because I wanted to know how it ended. Long and drawn out. Fell asleep through parts of it would wake up and still nothing interesting going on.

This should be a tv series
Loved this series of books. The many twists and turns were fantastic and well described to the point of visualizing. Really it should be picked up for Netflix or Prime series. It's that good. Thoroughly enjoyed! Well done!

Omg drawled on and on and on
It wasn’t too bad for the first three books, but this last book is just horrendously long and drawn out. I found myself yelling at the storytelling to finally just get it on the storyline just constantly whining and complaining about being so in love and I can’t believe you’re with me and I don’t wanna lose you in blah blah blah blah. It was so tedious.
