À propos de cet audio

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

For the first time, Charlie Sheen, the star of Platoon, Wall Street, Major League, and Two and a Half Men, writes the story of his extraordinary life in an unfiltered memoir.

“We can live the stories or hear about them later from others. I choose the former.”

Charlie Sheen should not be alive to write this book.

But in The Book of Sheen, the movie and TV star, who has defied the odds, finally presents his story, in his own words.

Charlie Sheen was born the third of four children to actor Martin Sheen and his wife, Janet. He grew up on film sets—from his father’s all over the world, to his own in Malibu. There he made ambitious Super 8s, with a roster of friends who went on to become household names themselves, including his brother Emilio, Sean and Chris Penn, and the Lowe brothers.

Sheen broke into movies in the 1980s, playing a hoodlum in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, a young soldier in Platoon, and an ethically compromised trader in Wall Street. But somewhere along the way, despite a successful transition to TV leading man in Spin City and Two and a Half Men, Sheen descended into a vortex of extracurricular activities.

Now sober, Sheen delivers a clear-eyed narrative of his highs and lows with humor, candor, and a vivid, captivating writing style that is uniquely his. The Book of Sheen reads like a far-fetched, overstuffed novel of Hollywood life—yet it is all true.

This book was done in such an expertly way that only Charlie can do! His way that he story tells is captivating and keeps you hanging on to every word! He got home on some very tired drives after work which would usually bore the heck out of you and add to your tiredness,he would have you cracking up and loling the whole drive! Thank you for sharing your life with us I can only imagine the strength it took! You’re the man brother! So happy that you’re doing better now with addiction and your story is going to help so many people for years to come

Somehow Charlie manages to be likeable despite owning all the crazy stuff he’s done. Amazing he lived through it all…

Entertaining, honest and a bit shocking.

I was interested in this book because I’ve long been a fan of Two and a Half Men and had followed Charlie’s departure from the show, his struggles with addiction, and later his HIV diagnosis. I’ve listened to several memoirs, but this one just didn’t hit the mark for me.

It often feels like he simply doesn’t remember many of the details from his heavy years of drug and alcohol use, and that leaves gaps in the storytelling. There are also several references that went over my head, and at times it seemed like he was avoiding stating things plainly. While there are moments of genuine openness, overall it fell short of what I was hoping for.

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this one. That said, I did enjoy it enough to listen through in just three days.

Not the memoir I was hoping for
