À propos de cet audio

In this Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, a convicted killer becomes the first prisoner to be executed in the United States.

The Executioner's Song follows the true story of cold-blooded murderer Gary Gilmore, who, after being tried and convicted, insisted on being executed for his crimes. To do so, he fought a system intent on keeping him alive long after it sentenced him to death.

Norman Mailer tells Gilmore's story with impressive authority and compassion. The Executioner's Song is a trip down the wrong side of the tracks, right into the heart of American loneliness and violence–it is impossible to put down and difficult to forget.

Very detailed, and very long. But such an intriguing story. I like that your given a solid break down from all the different sides.
I was born one year after this all happened and I managed to never hear of this story. Worth the listen.

Extremely Long but I enjoyed it

Negative reviews of the narrator stopped me from purchasing this books many times. I desperately wanted to hear the story so I finally chose to purchase anyway. Yes the narrator is not great but I can assure you the story is definitely worth overlooking the poor narration.

Try it

This book could have, and should have, been edited down to one quarter its length. The details were excruciating and unnecessary. I listened to over 20 hours and the story still hadn’t gotten anywhere. I then fast forwarded to the execution which was a real letdown given the amount of background. I regret wasting my time on this book and would never recommend it to anyone.

Painfully and unnecessarily long
