À propos de cet audio

Barbara was 12 when she was admitted to the psychiatric hospital Aston Hall in 1971. From a troubled home, she'd hoped she would find sanctuary there. But during her stay, Barbara was systematically drugged and abused by its head physician, Dr Kenneth Milner.

Somehow, eventually, she started to campaign for answers. This is a shocking account of how vulnerable children were preyed upon by the doctor entrusted with their care.

I wasn't sure about taking on this story at first, the horrific things she suffered, could I hear them? But she told her story in the most incredible way, allowing the reader to know what happened without going into too much detail. Just when you think things might get better for her, they turn again. The story was absolutely incredible from beginning to end, not a single dull moment! And the narration was perfect! I recommend this book to anyone even thinking about it. Not only does her story bring awareness to evil we should all pay attention to, but her ability to survive each step of the way is inspiring in so many ways. I loved it!

A must read!

Beautifully written. Wonderfully narrated. Everyone needs to read this. We need to raise awareness to all the abuse CHILDREN are facing by the hands of "professionals"

A Must Read!!!

While a disturbing topic, this book is worth the read! It is well written and performed.

the performance really kept me listening, I wonder what happened to Kirsten (I know names were probably changed fro privacy) or Steven. the part when the police took Barbra from the woman she followed looking for her mom I wanted to cry "leave her there you idiots she wants to keep her," but I know why they didn't after all her last foster mom seemed nice at first too. it just sucks not long after this she ended up in the hospital.

lots of love from Canada to Barbra and the victims of Dr. Milner I found out that you won your case, while no amount of money will fix what happened I'm sure the fact that it has be acknowledged that they BELIVE you is a good step in healing.

What a fighter

The honesty and raw innocence in this story, I am so happy that against the constant disbelief and faith from the people she should have been able to trust, that she continued to try to make her voice heard. Performance by narrator was excellent.

Powerful, and heart wrenching
