À propos de cet audio

It is now six years since the secret disaster at Jurassic Park, six years since the extraordinary dream of science and imagination came to a crashing end - the dinosaurs destroyed, the park dismantled, the island indefinitely closed to the public.

But there are rumors that something has survived.

Dinosaur party!! I think I enjoyed the sequel even more so than Jurassic Park - more dinos and action with all the same corporate espionage you'd expect.

The characters make much better choices this time around and still find themselves in constant peril. The science is a touch cleaner, and we get to fill in plot holes from the first book.

Super fun read and so much better than the movies.

Jurassic Fun

Great book, terrible narration. The performance was so bland it was difficult to follow which character was which. Very disappointing for such an incredible story.

Struggled to finish

it was a good book. I'm not knocking it. but I prefer Jurassic Park because it just seemed to flow more easily. but overall it was a good read. and now I can finally say that I finished Jurassic Park in Lost world

Great book but not as good as Jurassic Park

A great action packed sequel to Jurassic Park. Scott Brick's narration is as good as ever, and really brings the story to life.

Great Story!

Lost World Jurassic Park was pretty sweet! Narrator did a fantastic job and listened to it while I drive to work or out fishing. it was a thrilling first book to go through on Audible!

I loved this book!

Amazing fictional story with a generous amount of scientific theory and fact.
will never look at chameleons or birds the same way.
Great liste.

Gripping

Man these are way better than the movies. They read like a suspense horror instead of an action comedy.

another great performance

It's amazing how both of these books manage to be so different than the movies, and just as good.

Good

The lost world is a great book but Jurassic park was better. Both the books are worth a listen/read they add so much to the park sadly this being the last one did leave me wanting more, and movies more focused on the books. Kelley isn't Malcolm's kid left me in shock and was good to have more of Dodgson.

great book

Michael Crichton quite obviously got pressured into writing this book. The success of 'Jurassic Park' (1990) - boosted by the excellent 1993 Steven Spielberg film - doubtless prompted fans and publishers to demand a sequel. This book (1995) is - notably - his only attempt at a follow-up novel in a prolific writing career.
Admirably, Crichton fashions a decent SciFi Thriller (at it's heart a book about scientists exploring an island populated with dinosaurs brought-back-to-life). The Science is well-researched and plausible, the characters are (reasonably) relatable, the conjecture about evolution and extinction is interesting, and the action scenes are realistic & vividly described.
Less fortunately, the Biotech ideas are rehashed, a dead character (Yes, Ian Malcolm *died* in the first book) is brought back to life to propel the tale, and Crichton chooses to cater to Hollywood expectations (adding precocious kids, social commentary, and a strong female character - who unfortunately feels somewhat obligatory).
All told, the book has some drawbacks, but succeeds in taking readers back to a captivating fantastical World for a rollercoaster ride of an adventure.

Scott Brick's narration is typically professional: clear diction, interested tone, decent voice-acting.. but also (typically) needs playback set at 1.15X to make up for slow pacing and annoying cadence.

This book is obviously written for an audience with expectations. It resembles the Movie version of 'Jurassic Park' far more than it resembles the novel - which is a little disappointing for a Crichton fan like me - but still merits 8.5 stars out of 10. It's nowhere near Crichton's worst effort, but it's not Top-10 either.
To conclude: 'The Lost World' isn't an indispensable read for fans of the first book (feel free to pass on it), but it's worth a Credit.

A Solid Continuation
