Description

NATIONAL BESTSELLER • From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Love Your Life comes a humorous and heartwarming novel about family, set against the backdrop of the most fabulous party you’ve ever snuck into.

“Sophie Kinsella keeps her finger on the cultural pulse, while leaving me giddy with laughter.”—Jojo Moyes, author of The Giver of Stars and The Last Letter from Your Lover

It’s been almost two years since Effie’s beloved parents got divorced, destroying the image of the happy, loving childhood she thought she had. Since then, she’s become estranged from her father and embarked on a feud with his hot (and much younger) girlfriend, Krista. And now, more earth-shattering news: They’ve sold Greenoaks, the rambling Victorian country house Effie has always called home.

When Krista decides to throw a grand “house-cooling” party, Effie is originally left off the guest list—and then receives a last-minute “anti-invitation” (maybe it’s because she called Krista a gold-digger, but Krista totally deserved it, and it was mostly a joke anyway). Effie declines, but then remembers a beloved childhood treasure is still hidden in the house. Her only chance to retrieve it is to break into Greenoaks while everyone is busy celebrating. As Effie sneaks around the house, hiding under tables and peeping through trapdoors, she realizes the secrets Greenoaks holds aren’t just in the dusty passageways and hidden attics she grew up exploring. Watching how her sister, brother, and dad behave when they think no one is looking, Effie overhears conversations, makes discoveries, and begins to see her family in a new light. Then she runs into Joe—the love of her life, who long ago broke her heart, and who’s still as handsome and funny as ever—and even more truths emerge.

But will Effie act on these revelations? Will she stay hidden or step out into the party and take her place with her family? And truthfully, what did she really come back to Greenoaks for? Over the course of one blowout party, Effie realizes that she must be honest with herself and confront her past before she’ll ever be able to face her future.

Easy listen

I've always loved Sophie Kinsella's books and this latest one is no exception. Fiona Hardingham is a master performer and I love the way she brings Sophie's books to life!!

This book was filled with family drama, siblings bonds, change in perspective and romance.

Funny and endearing

Sophie Kinsella always creates characters that you think are ridiculous, endearing and hilarious all at the same time. I enjoyed the timeline of the story and the sentiment that things are not always as simple as we would like to think. The beauty of a real and broken family mixed with funny antics and drama make this book an enjoyable read and maintains the author’s style.

I would read ANYTHING by Sophie Kinsella

I'm a huge Kinsella fan and of narrator Fiona Hardingham. The Party Crasher lived up to all my expectations: a good laugh, some cringe-worthy messes, and a happily-ever-after!
Keep them coming!

Fun And funny L but a little “same-old” style from SK

I do love SKs humour and so despite starting each book nit being able to stand the Mia bith of the main character by the end I’m always cheering for her. I liked the idea and the pro-nostalgia of this book and the immed family members started to really make an impacted on my heart as far as character development, but I’m starting to feel like I’m reading such similar stories from SK despite the plot changes and setting changes. I’d love to see her humour used with a main a little less simple/clueless to the world - if that makes any sense. Well read in every way btw

Avoid this - poorly written and kind of boring

Sophie Kinsella needs to slow down and get back to her snappy, fun and creative roots. Her absurdity is usually really funny but this book is absurdly bad. I painfully listened to it hoping if would get better but it was a waste of time. I would feel bad about panning this book but i hope bad reviews will encourage her to write a better book next time! Narrator just okay - usually better with a better story.

Feels like the same character from other novels

I enjoyed the narration but the character felt like the same person from her other novels. it was not laugh out loud funny but the unraveling of the family secrets was interesting.

Wonderful story with lots of fun and heart. Narrator is perfect and the characters are funny and endearing. I loved it and hated for it to end.

Boring! Do Not Bother!

I have now listened to all Sophie Kinsella's books and never thought that she'd write a total bomb but this was it. Wow, what an absolute bore fest! It must have been her first effort or something.

Common Sophie

I was disappointed in this book! I love her other books, but this one was kinda weird. Fiona was amazing as always though.

Loved this book!

Such a fun book! The narrator brought this book alive. I loved envisioning the house. The story was humorous but also nostalgic. One of my favorite reads in the past few years.

I love sophie kinsella. this is not a favorite.

I have listened to almost all of sophie kinsella's audiobooks. this narrator is excellent. however, it's chapter 4 and I am struggling to find anything to keep my interest. I am turning it off for now. will update when book it complete.
