'A modern horror classic from one of the most exciting writers in the field today' Starburst Magazine

Thirteen voices. Thirteen storeys. One dinner party to die for.

An innovative haunted house tour-de-force from the creator of THE MAGNUS ARCHIVES podcast.

GOING UP?

A dinner party is held in the penthouse of a multimillion-pound development. All the guests are strangers - even to their host, the billionaire owner of the building
.
None of them know why they were selected to receive his invitation. Whether privileged or deprived, they share only one thing in common - they've all experienced a shocking disturbance within the building's walls.

By the end of the night, their host is dead, and none of the guests will say what happened. His death has remained one of the biggest unsolved mysteries - until now.

But are you ready for their stories?

Ce que les critiques en disent

The book works both as a collection of inventive horror stories and as a cohesive novel, building to a nerve-jangling finale that reveals the shocking events at the party.
A modern horror classic from one of the most exciting writers in the field today.
Thirteen Storeys is an excellent horror [...] everyone will find something creepy in Banyan Court.
Thrilling, chilling and thoroughly entertaining
Sims really has created an innovative novel where everything falls into place within its thrilling climax.
A beautifully written contemporary horror novel that I know for sure will leave its mark on me. I don't remember reading anything like this before and it was an absolute delight.
A book that takes old traditions and gives them a contemporary spin. Happy Halloween, all.
An excellent portmanteau novel. It's an ultra modern take on the haunted house story while each tale mixes in different subgenre flavours from techno-fear and shifting architecture to creepy kids and beyond, all building to a joined up climax that's pleasingly violent and gross.
This is an astonishing debut from Jonathan Sims. A wonderful new twist on an age-old genre. 5 out of 5.

Always good with representation and amazing story telling, Jonathan Sims’ work always pleases. This is no exception.

Sims’ work with The Magnus Archives certainly exhibited his mastery of suspense and horror, but this solidifies it.

Very poggers, Jon 👌🏻

Jonathan Sims’ Work Impresses as Always

My greivance with most other horror is my frustration that it takes so long to build up anything chilling enough to hook me properly but I like how dividing it into the 13 sub stories means that theres these self contained bits of tension, which still accumulate into a final twist which ties together all the threads in a way that makes sense and is still satisfyingly gruesome. Some chapters are definitely more freaky than others, and the ending is a little straight forward, but it has good re read value and its the first thing to succesfully freak me out in a while.

Damn

I really enjoyed the Magnus Archives, which is why I chose this book. I liked the book and characters. It was worth the credit. But I didn’t love it like I hoped I would. I think that is due to the format. It read way more like a podcast than a novel. I’m sure Mr. Sims has more novels in him and I’m confident he will improve.

Good story and characters

Sims narrative voice is incredibly strong in his writing as always. Slow, creeping dread is built up beautifully, nothing being spoon fed to you while also not being too complicated to follow. We love to hear a pipe murder. We love natural queer inclusion. We love revenge against capitalism.

Excellent, 10/10

I love Jonathan Sims’ The Magnus Archives and The Magnus Protocol and was excited to try his book. I really enjoyed that they had a different voice actor for each chapter and the format of different perspectives/storylines that you notice start to overlap. I liked the pacing and thought there was a great balance between mystery and exposition. I’m already excited to listen to it a second time and piece together the connections I missed the first listen through. As always, there are many different flavours of horror in this work and a little something for everybody. Highly recommend!

Another Winner from Jonny Sims
