À propos de cet audio
This Naked Mind has ignited a movement across the country, helping thousands of people forever change their relationship with alcohol.
Many people question whether drinking has become too big a part of their lives and worry that it may even be affecting their health. But they resist change because they fear losing the pleasure and stress relief associated with alcohol and assume giving it up will involve deprivation and misery.
This Naked Mind offers a new, positive solution. Here, Annie Grace clearly presents the psychological and neurological components of alcohol use based on the latest science and reveals the cultural, social, and industry factors that support alcohol dependence in all of us. Packed with surprising insight into the reasons we drink, this book will open your eyes to the startling role of alcohol in our culture and how the stigma of alcoholism and recovery keeps people from getting the help they need. With Annie's own extraordinary and candid personal story at its heart, this book is a must-listen for anyone who drinks.
This Naked Mind will give you freedom from alcohol. It removes the psychological dependence so that you will not crave alcohol, allowing you to easily drink less (or stop drinking). With clarity, humor, and a unique blend of science and storytelling, This Naked Mind will open the door to the life you have been waiting for.

Fifteen million Americans a year are plagued with alcoholism. Five million of them are women. Many of them, like Caroline Knapp, started in their early teens and began to use alcohol as "liquid armor", a way to protect themselves against the difficult realities of life. In this extraordinarily candid and revealing memoir, Knapp offers important insights not only about alcoholism, but about life itself and how we learn to cope with it.

What could possibly be “lucky” about addiction? Absolutely nothing, thought Laura McKowen when drinking brought her to her knees. As she puts it, she “kicked and screamed . . . wishing for something - anything - else” to be her issue. The people who got to drink normally, she thought, were so damn lucky. But in the midst of early sobriety, when no longer able to anesthetize her pain and anxiety, she realized that she was actually the lucky one. Lucky to feel her feelings, live honestly, really be with her daughter, change her legacy.

We live in a world obsessed with drinking. We drink at baby showers and work events, brunch and book club, graduations and funerals. Yet no one ever questions alcohol’s ubiquity—in fact, the only thing ever questioned is why someone doesn’t drink. It is a qualifier for belonging and if you don’t imbibe, you are considered an anomaly. As a society, we are obsessed with health and wellness, yet we uphold alcohol as some kind of magic elixir, though it is anything but.

This Naked Mind was a blessing to find.
What a wonderful book. It opened my eyes to a whole new world of being AF. I didn’t think it was possible to change my views and desires when it came to alcohol. There is nothing like going through life without even desiring or wanting anything to do with that poison, alcohol.
Thank you Annie Grace.

Life changing
This book isn’t at all preachy and religions filled garbage. It’s straight up and clear and confident and is exactly what I needed in my journey to the freedom of alcohol.

A MUST read!
I’m so happy to have found this book! I’ve been saying for so long now that I’m done drinking. I’d have a “fun” night out, overdo it, wake up feeling like crap, and tell myself that THAT was the LAST time! But before long I’d find myself with l another drink in my hand.
So glad to finally feel free of it: without the craving and feeling odd around others who still choose it.
It’s well written and narrated too.

Effective Look at How Society Relates to Alcohol
Annie Grace did a full year of deep-dive research into the neuroscience behind the workings of the human brain, how alcohol changes the pathways we are born with, the role of the conscious and unconscious minds in the consumption of alcohol and the far-reaching effects that alcohol can have on society and the individual. This highly-effective book studies the alcohol industry, the ravages that alcohol can have on the human body and mind, and presents steps to readdress our connection to alcohol and to find more healthy and mindful ways to relate to this powerful and too-often destructive drug. #Audible1

Worth Reading, even if you don't agree
I've used alcohol my whole life, and questioned my use of alcohol for most of it. I wish I'd read this sooner, to put my dependency in perspective in my 20s, to see it for what it was: addiction. Listening to this book has shifted my thinking and shed some light on the issue, but I'm left still undecided... It's very concrete, cut and dry and while the black and white logic is what works in the author's arguments, I have to admit I still have to think about some aspects of her research... and that it made me think and disagree is part of why I liked it actually - it triggered some things! That said, I've taken alcohol out of my diet and this book was a huge help in shedding shame / regret, and instead feeling confidence and optimism.

completely changed my view on alcohol
Seriously, I cannot recommend this book enough if you are interested in stopping alcohol consumption in any capacity. I have always felt drinking to be problematic but continued on, mostly socially. I never considered myself to have a problem but after one more horrible hangover I just knew I had to stop. I felt that this behavior, that so many participate in, is pretty weird and kinda messed up. I saw this book recommended several times on a subreddit, r/stopdrinking, and dove in. I think listening vs. reading was also very valuable.

Must Read!
I quit smoking by listening to a book like this so I thought why not give this book a try. I listened to it everyday to and from work and it is amazing. I just finished the book today and I will be participating in the 30 day challenge. You must read this book if you want to cut down or quit drinking, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!
