Archaeologist Nora Kelly is adrift in her career and her personal life when a violent, inexplicable incident leaves her in possession of a mysterious letter. This story was really interesting with lots of twists and turns. The characters were well developed and believable, and the theme included an element of the supernatural. I always enjoy novels by Preston and Child and this one was no exception.
I knew from previous books that I find Scott Brick's narrative style grating, and for me it distracted from the story. I had hoped there would be a less dramatic reading of this story than was the case in previous books. Nope. I guess he's an acquired taste; I think he's more suited to narrating romance novels.

Great story, disappointing narration

I have the paperback and this reminded me why it was a favourite. At first I wasn't a fan for Scott's voice but he is a good storyteller and soon I was lost in the book. Definitely add to your list.

Shades of The Relic in this one but missing a bit of the otherworldliness. Overall a well told story that is very interesting and the setting is something I've not read before. would recommend for someone who likes the southwest United states, archaeology, strong female characters (without cramming feminism down your throat), unique settings, mystery, slow burn, and mysticism.

Wouldn't mind a bit of supernatural!

The book was excellent. unfortunately... The narrator sounds frighteningly reminiscent of Captain Kirk of Star Trek Fame. Somewhere, William Shatner is flattered by your attempt to imitate, sir.
