As a fan of Tom Clancy for some time now, some of his Ghost writers don't always hit... this one did! well written, well executed, and kept me hooked until the very end.

This was a fun story that fills in the time between Red October and Clear and Present Danger, Like Red Rabbit, it's nice to read about younger Jack Ryan, and to see characters like Jim Greer and Judge Moore again, especially since the original books leapfrog through Jack's career in pretty big strides.

However, the plot is pretty predictable and linear, with a small cast of characters, especially compared to Clancy books of that era, which were very intricate with multiple converging storylines. Stylistically, 'said' is a far overused past participle in this book. It probably sounds worse narrated than it would read, as it becomes very repetitive.

That said, this a worthy addition to the Ryanverse, and Jack, Mary Pat, and John all come across as authentic.

I'm a big fan of Scott Brick, but this is not one of my favourite narrations. Especially at the beginning, it sounds a little funny, for some reason - almost like, he is using differrent equipment. Still, I love his performances!

This story fills in some of the gaps from the original Jack Ryan stories and adds to the personal history shared by many of the key characters.

Worthy successor to Tom Clancy

A refreshing look back into the past of Ryan and MP’s past. The story creates a deeper back story to the relationship between the two seen in other books. A good stand alone store with lots of little details that help to creat deeper understanding from other books.

- a good story line, imaginative but not entirely credible. Jack takes on a subordinate role overall but the other characters are never fully developed. The plot works but the connections are fragmented and not always credibly explained.

The heavy emphasis on the technology of hand guns is a typical and persistent feature but has little to do with the main plot. I finished it but then thought, so what?

I love the series, and this was a throwback to earlier work. A wonderfully woven story, filling in some history for us Ryan fans. Mary Pat kicked some butt!

Love filling in the pieces between Ryan's knighthood and his sojourn to Colombia with Foley in her prime and Clark on overwatch. Thanks for showing why Ryan and Foley are so close. Thanks for being true to the characters @marccameron Tom would have appreciated it.
