À propos de cet audio

Fifteen years ago, 29 Barley Street, South London, became notorious as the scene of alleged poltergeist activity which led to the death of young Holly Wasson. The shadow cast by this episode is still felt in the town and amongst the gang of friends who were caught up in the tragic event.

When one of the group dies in horrific and strange circumstances, Matt Hunter, former minister and now professor of sociology, is called in to investigate.

Way, way different in plot and tone to the first in the series, but it was still quite good. It was honestly tense and spooky at times. The writing was consistent, the mystery was solid, and , like the first book, the portrayal of both theist, atheist and, in this case, paranormalist characters wasn't that bad. Or, I should say, they were all equally bad. If the writer has a preference to any one belief system, he did a good job concealing it, because everyone came off as well meaning but a little bit awful. I appreciate that.
The other thing is that the solution to the mystery was a surprise. Which usually would be great, except it kind of came our of nowhere? Like, the villain had about two extremely brief appearances before the end, where he said maybe a handful of lines in total. No clues were presented at all. You kind of couldn't figure it out on your own. Which, again, is ok, but still.
Overall, a good listen.
Except the narrator can't pronounce the "ex" sound and it got annoying. Exactly becomes "issatly" and except becomes "essept" and so on. Ugh, and he said "probaly". Otherwise, though, good narration.

genuinely creepy
