This interview is with 'Young Sherlock’ series creator Matthew Parkhill. The new Prime Video series follows a younger iteration of Sherlock Holmes, before he became the savvy detective we know him for in the Arthur Conan Doyle books.

Hero Fiennes Tiffin plays the main character, who is blamed for a crime he did not commit, leading him to join forces with James Moriarty to prove his innocence and solve the mystery. In this conversation with Matthew, we discussed more about what interested him in telling the story of a character we know and love at different stage of his life, how Episode 5 changes the course of the series in significant ways, and how Moriarty’s perspective of Sherlock shifts by the end, planting the seeds for their eventual rivalry.
