News: Not too far in the future, in a land very close to home, some changes are coming! Beginning April 29th, more Star Wars eras are coming to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. Darth Vader, Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker will arrive on Batuu. The Galactic Civil War and New Republic, as well as the Age of the Resistance and First Order will be represented. The Original Trilogy characters will be mainly around the spires and Millennium Falcon, while the forested area near Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be the Age of Resistance. Throughout the land, music from John William’s musical score will be heard. The Cantina Band tune will emanate from Oga’s Cantina. Fist Order Cargo will transition to Black Spire Surplus, Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will have more one-of-a-kind items, and Droid Depot will be operated by an earlier generation of the Mubo family. “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga” and “Fire of the Rising Moons” will continue. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/star-wars-galaxys-edge-timeline-expands-at-disneyland/ Hard to believe, but Downtown Disney turns 25 this year. The shopping and dining district opened on January 12, 2001. To honor this event, a new retro-style logo was unveiled on the ground behind the Downtown Disney stage. There is also a Disney California Adventure Park 25th Anniversary bucket, and the Disneyland 70th bucket. For Lunar New Year, there is a special Magic Key lanyard, a semi-secluded dining and photo-op area, and Magic Key merchandise. News: This February, Disney California Adventure will turn 25! To celebrate this milestone, Magic Key holders can pick up a magnet set commemorating the event. This will be part of a “Fun and Sun” event area that offers nostalgic photo opportunities, encounters with “familiar friends,” and more. The event will take place in the Hyperion Theater Courtyard near Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout. Key holders will need to join a virtual queue in the Disneyland app to access the area. The kiosk is installed and could open at any time. News: The newest Disneyland documentary we are all waiting for has a release date. Disneyland Handcrafted will premiere on Disney+ and Disney YouTube on January 22nd. The film covers the creation of Disneyland with rare, first-hand archival footage leading up to the opening in July, 1955. Leslie Iwerks and her team searched through over 100 hours of raw material from Disneyland in its earliest days. - https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/disneyland-handcrafted-release-date-and-more-details/ The first part of the Disneyland Forward project has a permit, with work beginning soon. The permit is for a 3.2 million square foot, 8-level open parking structure with 302 EV charging spots. This is the first part that needs to be completed before the additional capacity can be built and opened with the rest of the project. The new structure should hold 6,000 vehicles and feature a rideshare area, and transit hub. Haddy, a 3D printing company, has partnered with Disney to create a boat that will be installed in The Jungle Cruise as a prop. The process from design to completion will be sped up with the 3D printing process, as opposed to the previous molding process that could take thousands of hours to get just right. The Mark Twain Riverboat will be closing on January 12th through the 16th, the Haunted Mansion will return to the non-holiday overlay from January 11th through the 23rd. Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind is closed and will reopen January 23rd. In the latest Disney Unscripted episode, they follow the crew that transforms the land from Halloween to Christmas overnight. From warehouse to park and all the work to get completed in one night before the guests show up in the morning, this video shows it all. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/cars-land-halloween-holiday-transformation/ Disney has posted the availability calendar for the new Explore Magic Key that we spoke about last episode. The new key will have extended availability in the summer, opening up a lot of days in June and July that the Enchant Key was blocked out for. January 23rd will be the return of the classic Haunted Mansion variation. Also added to the refurbishment list for the first time is Star Wars Rise of the Resistance. New electronic signs have debuted that give guests directions on where to go to get to certain locations in the park. Inside of Sarge’s Surplus Hut, there is a display with a red mailbox. At this mailbox, you can write a letter to Santa Car. Mater will then take everyone’s letters to Santa Car to the North Pole, along with his friend Lightning McQueen. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/12/14/confirmed-this-might-be-the-best-holiday-thing-you-can-do-in-a-disney-park/ A small version of “it’s a small world” appeared on the Disneyland Instagram this week. The video showed off a model of the classic attraction in the park, in front of the full-sized attraction. The video goes on to show the creation of the miniature, which features 120 individual bushes, trees, and shrubs, and took over 200 hours to create. The miniature is on display in the small world toy shop. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-small-world-model/ As we reported last week, work has finally begun on the new Porto’s location in Downtown Disney. Construction walls have gone up and encircle the ticket booths on the Disney California Adventure side of the west esplanade. This is a great sign of progress. Another area slow to redevelopment has been the old ESPN building, which now has signage up for lululemon! The old Tortilla Jo’s location, which has been sitting stagnant since demo finished in the summer, is still happening, but waiting on permits with the city to continue. News: Disneyland After Dark is coming back for 2026, with a new nite, along with some returning popular nites. New for 2026 will be Disneyland After Dark 70 Years of Favorites, which Disney describes as “weaving together the best of Disneyland happenings, including nods to favorite musical moments, shows, and characters.” Returning nites include Sweetheart’s Nite, Disney Channel Nite, Star Wars Nite, and Pride Nite. Sweetheart’s Nite will take place on 9 nights from late January to February 17th, with a new “Celebrate Love Cavalcade” and “Once Upon a Dream – A Musical Journey Through the Disney Songbook” featuring live singers and Disney royalty that ends with a ball underneath the stars. 70 Years of Favorites will take place on March 3rd and 5th, and feature swing dancing at Royal Theatre in Fantasyland, a Videopolis Dance Party at Tomorrowland Terrace, line dancing at The Golden Horseshoe, sentimental photo opportunities, and characters from days gone by. Tickets for both these events go on sale for Magic Key holders on December 9th, with general ticket sales starting on December 11th. Disney Channel Nite will take place on April 12th, 14th, and 16th, Star Wars Nite will span 4 dates on April 28th, April 30th, May 4th, and May 6th.
