For our very first episode Gary O'Hanlon and Gareth Mullins sit down to give us a flavour of what's to come from Dishing It Out. The inner workings of the food writing scene is laid bare in this week's episode, as Gary and Gareth (and Producer Russell) take a deep dive into the relationship between the chefs and the writers who judge their work - and the impact a good review can have.

We're joined by our first ever guest this week, as Irish Olympian David Gillick joins us to discuss his lifelong love of food and tells us how his love of cooking has grown over the years. David brings with him the cookbook that means most to him, and tells us why the recipes within have become so important.

We also get a behind the scenes look at what goes into the making of some of the biggest cookery TV shows, and as always Gareth and Gary give us some recipe and kitchen gadget tips.

We’re joined this week by radio host Ciara Kelly, and as Ciara traces back through her story of getting into media, Gary has to admit that their relationship got off to a rocky start, and Ciara tells us about her morning routine and how her Christmas food plans are already well underway.

And there’s some communal commiserating over serving people who just don’t realise what they’ve ordered.
