  • First Minister of Scotland John Swinney on the pod!
    Dec 11 2025

This week the pod hosts Scotland’s First Minister. Speaking from a mobile studio at the British Irish Council Summit, John Swinney makes the wonderful confession that his wife is a big fan of For Wales, See Wales.

Sadly there was no Robin this week so Will and Mel sat down to chew the fat with the Scottish leader including asking “why does Scotland get a better deal than Cymru?”

Will asks Mr Swinney about his relationship with Plaid leader Rhun ap Iorwerth and whether any future alliance between the parties would extend to the Scots supporting changes to the Barnett formula. Mel discusses how Scotland are supporting the Gaelic language and what inspiration they have taken from Wales.

    About FWSW

100 years ago if you had picked up the Encyclopaedia Britannica and looked up “Wales” you would have seen four words - ‘For Wales, see England.’

This implied that Wales was no different to England. Not worthy of its own description. Second fiddle. Frankly, it implied that Wales was simply less of a country.

That is why we have launched our podcast: For Wales, See Wales.

It is a weekly look at Welsh politics looking at the issues that matter to people here.

There are so many people who are passionately Welsh, who care about Wales and want to better understand what is happening here.

The more informed people are on Welsh issues, the more they are able to hold politicians and decision makers to account for the things that affect their lives.

Just as importantly, we want to have a good laugh talking and learning about the country we love.

  • Shock Caerphilly By-Election Result
    Oct 24 2025

Ring the alarm - an emergency pod has dropped!

Will, Robin and Mel react to the shock Caerphilly by-election result which saw Plaid Cymru take the Senedd seat from Labour for the first time in Senedd history.

The trio discuss how Plaid Cymru dealt Welsh Labour such a historic defeat, and why Reform’s best efforts just weren’t enough.

Fresh from the overnight count, a very tired Will Hayward demonstrates how the vote share was split between left and right leaning voters, whilst Robin and Mel discuss what this could mean for the Senedd elections come May.
