  • Managing Career Change to Therapist: Course Choice and Finances
    Sep 15 2025

    Send us a text

In this YouTube video I talk about making the transition from a current career to becoming a therapist, addressing two common concerns: the length of qualification and the financial transition involved in this career change.

    1. Qualification Length: many people seek the quickest route to start their private practice, but, while the theoretical part of the training might be completed more quickly, the psychological shift required for many can significant and ongoing.

    2. Financial Transition: the financial aspect of transitioning to a therapist is another major topic and I say some more about this in this video. I talk, for example about the importance of building a financial buffer and considering part-time or flexible work to sustain an income during the transition and qualifying as soon as someone can.

    3. Psychological and Emotional Considerations: I also touch on the psychological challenges of this career change, such as managing fear and anxiety, which can impact the ability to build a successful practice.
