    In this episode, we examine the history of warriors like samurai who would learn a passive art like calligraphy, art, or gardening to balance out their martial art training. They we learn how to open ourselves up to artistic expression in everything we see or do around us. Martial Art inspired Art or Performance can be artistic when combined and transformed on the page, in writing or with music, special uniforms, or circular extended techniques like a dance. The creative process helps us to see the world in a different way and use it instead of just for the fighting arts.

  • The Holy Spirit/The Force

    In this episode, we examine the Power of the Holy Spirit in your everyday life and the gifts that you could receive if you ask humbly. We also compare the Holy Spirit to "the Force" in Star Wars and how we can be more than we are in our Martial Art Training by combining the training with the spiritual side of yourself by embracing the commitment and spirit yell or ki hap. Lastly, we talked about tapping into the knowledge that the Holy Spirit can bring similarly to the Jedi Knights in Star Wars used the "Knowledge of the Force."

  • Ambition without Knowledge

    In this Episode, we examine furthering our education no matter your age. This includes honing and refining your craft or specialty, like for example owning a business, teacher, electrician, plumber, etc. You can learn something from a Master in that field, from YouTube, or your parents. In martial art practice, do not just go through the motions, but do "Thoughtful Practice with a Purpose," so that each technique gets better and each pattern or kata gets smoother. Don't be afraid to try something or learn something new by attending seminars, trainings, and workshops to better yourself and educate yourself. "Ambition without Knowledge is like a Boat on Dry Land."

  • Martial Art Challenge

    In this episode, we look at the work task of outdoor work like is shown in some of our earlier podcast episodes in order to build strength and muscle endurance necessary for "The Martial Art Challenge." In our martial art training, we combine our hand techniques, kicking techniques, patterns, speed drills, and shield drills into sets usually from lowest to highest rank. Then you use a ratio of minutes trained equals number of reps, so that you can combine it with earlier challenges like the rep challenge or stretching challenge to gain workout completion throughout your day and get better at your martial art rather than better at walking!

    In this episode, we examine what it is to be a Modern Ninja including the identity as a farmer, laborer, or skilled trade during the day and Ninja by night. Batman is an example of a Modern Ninja, stretching, practicing, and honing their martial art skills, while combining it with use of martial art weapons, to be effective. Noticing things out of the ordinary, information gathering, using distractions, hiding both in plain sight and hidden in general are the cornerstones of Ninja Training. The use of rolling into an attack, takedowns, and quick strikes are effective tools of the craft similar to modern day spies.

    In this episode, we examine the Japanese Shinto Practice of Misogi which involves cleansing the mind, body, and spirit through physical and mental challenges. It usually involves water cleansing in sacred waterfalls, lakes, or rivers either alone or in small groups. In our physical martial art training, we discuss the "pattern pyramid" and how to accomplish it as a preliminary activity before your Misogi. Lastly, we talk about prayer and fasting, cold and hot plunges as part of your mental martial art training doe preparation.

  • We Three Kings

    In this episode, we look at the history of the "We Three Kings" (or Wise Men) during the Celebration of Epiphany and told during the Season of Christmas. In our work task, we examine the concept of traveling in our daily tasks, traveling to get food, or for a longer trip. This movement helps us in our physical training, through the lifting of our gold (weights), and moving basics to travel forward. In our mental training, using incense and myrrh to bless our dojo and aid in our meditation to become more spiritual in our training.
