Learning to Praise | Psalm 150:1–6

This past Sunday, Pastor Steve walked us through Psalm 150 and taught us that praise is not optional—it is commanded, and it is the natural response of a heart awakened to God’s truth. Worship begins with understanding who God is, and true praise engages our whole being.

Understanding how to worship leads me to engage in worship.

Application:

Believers never lack a reason to praise the Lord.

My engagement is essential when the church gathers.

God’s truths are what awaken a response to praise.

This week at Heritage, Pastor Steve preached from 1 Corinthians 7:6–16, showing us that God calls every believer, whether single, married, or divorced, to live faithfully right where He has placed them.

Paul reminded the church in Corinth that following Christ means staying devoted to Him in whatever season of life we are in. Marriage is not about personal happiness but about holiness, reflecting Christ through faithfulness and love. Singleness is not a lesser calling but a season to serve the Lord with undivided devotion.

We were reminded that our circumstances do not define our purpose. Christ does. Obedience where we are is the key to contentment in Him.

Marriage & Intimacy | 1 Corinthians 7:1–5

Pastor Steve opened the Word to 1 Corinthians 7:1–5, showing us God’s design for marriage. In a culture that confuses and distorts marriage and intimacy, Scripture gives clarity—calling husbands and wives to reflects Christ.

Key Points:
•Sexual intimacy is a safeguard against sexual immorality (v. 1–2)
•Sexual intimacy is a mutual surrender to sexual needs (v. 3–4)
•Sexual intimacy is a willing embrace of sexual activity (v. 5)

Following God’s principles for sexual intimacy strengthens every Christian marriage.

Purity In The Church | 1 Corinthians 5
Pastor Steve Miller preached on the call to holiness within God’s people. From 1 Corinthians 5, we were reminded that Christ redeems us not only from sin’s penalty but also calls us to walk in purity as His church. Sin is not to be tolerated or celebrated but lovingly confronted, because the cross produces a people set apart for Him.
