In Episode 2 of this series on 1 Peter, Caleb Conley and I attempt to make our way through the Epistolary Introduction (vv 1-2) and the Prooemium (vv 3-12), however, only make it to v5. While we found ourselves repeating some of the content of the opening part of the letter, vv 1-2 specifically, we felt it absolutely necessary to spend adequate time on this section. Peter's opening is that theological backdrop for the remainder of the letter, and must be understood in its totality in order that the rest be read rightly.

The next will consist of discussion concerning the theological and ecclesiological atmosphere leading up to the Nicene Council, during it, and hopefully, how it led to the next council, the First Constantinople Council.
