  • The Beginning of 1 Peter - 1v1-5
    Jun 19 2025

In Episode 2 of this series on 1 Peter, Caleb Conley and I attempt to make our way through the Epistolary Introduction (vv 1-2) and the Prooemium (vv 3-12), however, only make it to v5. While we found ourselves repeating some of the content of the opening part of the letter, vv 1-2 specifically, we felt it absolutely necessary to spend adequate time on this section. Peter's opening is that theological backdrop for the remainder of the letter, and must be understood in its totality in order that the rest be read rightly.

  • Why is Constantine Important to Christianity & the Nicene Controversy
    Jun 11 2025

In Episode 1 of this series on the Patristic Period & the Councils, my good friend, Christopher McCormick, joins me to begin talking about the importance of Constantine in Christianity, the atmosphere leading up to his emperorship, and the inception of the Nicene council. We found that a lot of information needed to be revisited and talked about further, therefore, this episode is going to be broken into two parts. The next will consist of discussion concerning the theological and ecclesiological atmosphere leading up to the Nicene Council, during it, and hopefully, how it led to the next council, the First Constantinople Council.

  • Who Wrote 1 Peter?
    Jun 5 2025

In Episode 1 of this series on 1 Peter, I focus on the largely disputed topic of authorship concerning 1 Peter. Through looking at scholars and the arguments they put forth, we are able to understand the historical context of the letter and its place within our NT canon. The Bibliography can be found at the bottom of this description.

  • Understanding the Incarnation
    Feb 2 2025

In this episode, Collin Ellis, Eli Jenkins, and Alex Tabor sit down to have a conversation discussing John Cassian's writings "On the Incarnation." Written around 429 ad, this piece was amidst a variety of conversations being had during the 5th century attempting to uncover the metaphysical makeup of Jesus Christ as God and also man. With this comes a plethora of heresies, therefore, we attempt to explicate some of these heresies, describe the right belief, and then pontificate about what these might cause one to think about.
