That front slides through, dropping highs into the mid-60s along the Front Range and low 60s farther south. Mountain snow showers develop above 9,000 feet as moisture streams in. Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. Tuesday brings the next big change. An upper low moves through with rain likely for the plains and snow for the mountains. Highs drop to the low 50s. We dry out Wednesday before another system arrives late week. One more thing. Spring equinox is about three weeks away. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day. Sunrise today is 6:36 A.M. Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Colorado Weather Podcast — it's Thursday, February 26th. Fifty degrees outside right now. Feels almost too good to be true.. And honestly, it kind of is. Because today's real story isn't the temperature. It's the wind. Red Flag Warnings are posted along I-25 and through Fremont County. Gusts could punch 40 miles an hour, especially from Pueblo west through the Arkansas Valley. Humidity crashes to 11 percent this afternoon. That's Sahara Desert dry, folks. If you're anywhere near open ground, don't even think about sparks. Down in the Southern Front Range, you're waking up near 30 degrees. By mid-afternoon? Rocketing to 65. Northwest winds gust to 20. The Front Range starts around 38, climbs to 63 by early afternoon. Winds kick in from the west-northwest, gusting to 26 miles an hour. Secure anything that might blow away. Over on the Western Slope, partly cloudy early, then sunshine takes over. You'll hit 64 degrees. Winds stay calmer there — around 10 miles an hour. Tonight drops to the low 30s under clear skies. Friday pushes near 70 degrees along the Front Range with gusty northwest winds. Fire weather concerns stick around. Saturday stays warm and sunny — near 70 again. Sunday brings clouds and cooler air. Rain develops north of Denver by late afternoon, highs in the low 60s. Monday and Tuesday turn unsettled with rain on the plains, snow in the mountains. And highs in the mid to upper 50s. Some models hint at a wintry mix early Tuesday. Wednesday dries out with highs near 60. Keep an eye on those fire conditions today. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Colorado Weather Podcast — it's Wednesday, February 25th. Step outside right now and you're sitting at 42 degrees under a thick blanket of gray. But hold on.. Because we're about to see one of those classic Colorado temperature swings. By 2 P.M., we're hitting 69 degrees. Here's how it plays out. Temperatures bottom out around 42 degrees at 6 A.M. on the Front Range. Then the climb starts. We reach 69 degrees by 2 P.M. Winds shift from south-southwest to west-southwest around 5 A.M. Gusts hit 25 miles an hour by 2 P.M. Then rain moves in from 5 P.M. to 1 A.M. tonight. Down on the Southern Front Range, same story. High of 69 degrees around 2 P.M. Then temperatures crash to 36 degrees by 4 A.M. A slight chance of rain around 2 A.M. Winds gust to 25 miles an hour around 3 P.M. Out on the Western Slope, conditions stay bone dry through the next 24 hours. High of 64 degrees around 4 P.M. Lows drop to 37 degrees by 3 A.M. Winds shift from east-northeast to east-southeast around 8 A.M. Gusts reach 15 miles an hour around 3 P.M. Now the critical stuff. A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M. today for Elbert and Douglas Counties. Gusty winds and low humidity mean any spark could turn into a wildfire. Don't burn anything outdoors. Up in the mountains, a Winter Storm Warning continues until 9 P.M. for the Elkhead and Park Mountains. Expect 8 to 14 inches of snow with gusts to 60 miles an hour. That's dangerous driving territory. Your week ahead? Thursday brings sun and highs near 62 degrees. Friday and Saturday warm back into the upper 60s. By Sunday and Monday, rain chances return. We could even see some snow mixing in by Monday. Spring equinox is just three weeks away. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight today. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

But don't get too comfortable.. Today's all about contrast and change. **The Front Range** wakes up mild, then the winds take over. Southwest gusts hit 33 miles an hour by 3 PM as temperatures soar to 70 degrees by 2 PM. Seventy degrees in February. But here's the Colorado twist. Those winds flip after sunset. And by 5 AM Wednesday, it'll feel like 36 degrees even though your thermometer reads 41. Classic bait and switch. **Head south** and you'll find even warmer air. The Southern Front Range hits 72 degrees by 1 PM. Northwest gusts to 35 miles an hour early, then shifting west-northwest by midday. Tonight drops to 39 degrees, with winds staying lively. **Over on the Western Slope**, it's cooler and quieter. Highs only reach 56 degrees by 3 PM with light southeast winds. Expect 8 to 16 inches of heavy, wet snow above 9,000 feet. Winds gust to 65 miles an hour. Travel will be very difficult to impossible, especially Wednesday morning. The Flat Tops and Gore-Elk Mountains get 4 to 8 inches. If you're heading into the high country, plan for winter driving by tonight. **Fire danger is critical today.** A Red Flag Warning covers the eastern plains and urban corridor from 10 AM to 5 PM. Winds gusting to 45 miles an hour plus 10 percent humidity mean any spark could explode into a fast-moving fire. No outdoor burning today. We stay warm through Friday with highs in the 60s and 70s. But wind keeps fire danger elevated to critical through Friday. Sunday brings a slight cooldown and a chance of rain showers, especially for the Front Range and Western Slope. • Colorado Weather: 02-21-2026
    Feb 21 2026
Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Colorado Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th. Folks, step outside right now and you'll feel winter reminding you who's boss. The Front Range is leading the pack at 17 degrees. That sounds almost balmy until you realize the Southern Front Range is sitting at 12. And the Western Slope? A bone chilling 10 degrees. That's the kind of cold where your car door handle fights back. Here's the deal. Winds are gentle today. Light southwest breezes at 3 miles an hour along the Front Range. Head south and a north wind picks up to 5 miles an hour. Nothing dramatic. The Western Slope barely has a breath of air moving. So at least the cold isn't biting through your jacket. The sky is your reward today. Completely dry. No snow. No clouds worth mentioning. Just pure Colorado blue from horizon to horizon. Air quality sits moderate at 55, so if you're sensitive, you'll want to keep the outdoor time reasonable. Here's something to smile about. We're gaining almost 3 minutes of daylight today. Sunrise at 6:32 A.M., sunset at 5:19 P.M. February is quietly doing its thing, stretching the days longer one sunrise at a time. Now here's your heads up for the week ahead. It stays quiet. No storms lurking. Temperatures creep up a degree or two each day, and by midweek the Front Range might flirt with the low 20s. But mornings stay frosty across the board. The Western Slope holds onto the deepest cold. Perfect weather for a Sugarloaf run if you ask me. Wait, wrong state. I mean Sunday River. No. I mean Copper Mountain. Bundle up either way. One more thing. If you're enjoying these daily updates, share us with a friend who hates weather surprises. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Stay safe out there!
