  • High School Time Machine: Academics: Coasting or Committed?
    Mar 9 2026

Our storytellers are LuHi Math Teacher Mr. Dwinell and LuHi junior Brody Burt. Both share about the moment something shifted - when they realized it was time to take their academics (and their responsibility) more seriously.

But here’s what we don’t want your takeaway to be: Grades are the most important thing. Not even close! Instead, we hope you hear that it’s about motivation, ownership, and doing the work. Because effort is what really matters.

The reflection questions for this week are:

    • What part of the taking-high-school-seriously stories stuck with you?
    • Has there been a moment in life when you realized you needed to step up?
    • What were the motivating factors?
    • What motivates you today?

We hope you continue the conversation by reflecting on these questions with your student and maybe even sharing what your high school experience was like. You can also share your reflections and feedback with us! Email us at podcast@lhsparker.org

Next week, our theme is: Finding Your Purpose

    See you then!

  • High School Time Machine: Losing the Big Game
    Mar 2 2026

Welcome to episode 1 of High School Time Machine (working title)! We are so excited to have two excellent storytellers on the podcast today. This week's theme: Losing the Big Game

Our first story comes from LuHi Volleyball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director Alicia Kidston. Our second story is from LuHi Senior Berkley Schneider. Both share their experiences of making it to the State and experiencing a disappointing loss.

You don’t have to have made it to State, or even be an athlete, to connect with this one. We’ve all experienced moments where a win felt certain… until it wasn’t. Big expectations. Big hopes. Unexpected loss.

This episode is especially timely as Berkley and the LuHi Lions look to make a run at State Basketball again this year.

The reflection questions for this week are:

    • What part of the losing-the-big-game stories stuck with you?
    • Has there been a moment in your life where you thought a win was certain but then didn’t happen?
    • How did you respond?
    • Looking back now, what did you learn?
    • What advice would you give yourself? (throwback to the teaser episode)

We hope you continue the conversation by reflecting on these questions with your student and maybe even sharing what your high school experience was like. You can also share your reflections and feedback with us! Email us at podcast@lhsparker.org

Next week we will be back with another theme: Taking High School Seriously (... or not). See you then!

  • New Series: High School Time Machine [working title]
    Feb 23 2026

If you missed it, the podcast is pregnant... with a new idea!

Because Hannah is heading out on maternity leave (with an actual baby), we didn’t want to leave you without fresh content for weeks and weeks. So we’re launching something new: High School Time Machine*

This series explores one big idea:
No matter the decade, high school is surprisingly timeless.

    Each episode features:
    • One story from a current student
    • One story from a staff member from their own high school days
    • Zoeller and Hannah jumping in between stories to reflect
    • Reflection questions at the end so you can keep the conversation going with your student in the car or around the dinner table

Over 9 weeks, we’ll explore 9 different themes—from friendship to failure to belonging and beyond. Then (if all goes according to plan), we’ll wrap up with a 10th episode asking: What actually is different about high school today?

We’d genuinely love your feedback as you listen. Email us anytime at podcast@lhsparker.org

Strap in. We’re heading back in time.
