    In this episode of The Missing Secret Podcast, John and Kelly discuss the idea of talking to yourself in the second person. More specifically using focused self talk to create your identity. There is some amazing new research out of Stanford and Dr. Andrew Huberman where he talks about the scientific discoveries regarding how self talk impacts a person’s neurochemistry and autopilot. The connection is pretty simple. Self talk impacts identity, identity effects a person’s long-term actions, and actions determine a person’s success and achievement in life.

    So when you talk to yourself in the second person with empowering statements, it literally changes the chemical release of things like dopamine. And the expression of your genes. And it changes how your autopilot is wired. And that’s significant because 95% your daily thoughts and actions are unconscious. Meaning that 95% are on autopilot. During this interview it’s noted that when you say I, you’re more focused on your intentions. Where as when you say you, it’s your identity – which is more sticky then intentions.

    During this podcast John and Kelly discuss the concept of negative thoughts. And Dr. Andrew Huberman suggests that when a negative thought comes in your head, you simply identify it. Identify it as a thought and label it as not true. When you have the presence of mind to do that, it changes how the brain processes that negative thought. At the end the day, all we want is inner peace and to live our life confidently. And everything starts with gratitude. Which promotes inner strength, which then leads to mental toughness. Which then leads to achievement. And that all comes back to inner peace and gratitude.

    During this podcast Kelly digs into the idea that your identity dictates your actions. Who you see yourself as determines the actions you take. And your morning routine is how you establish your identity and how you build yourself from the inside out. You just have to figure out what the best morning routine for you is.     In this episode of The Missing Secret Podcast, John and Kelly dig deeper into the idea that 95% of your daily actions are unconscious. The classic way we explain it is as follows. Your actions determine your success in each area of your life. It is well documented that 95% of your daily actions are unconscious. Accordingly just connect the dots. Your subconscious mind controls your life. And if you want a higher level of success, you have to gain control over those unconscious daily actions. But one thing that John finds interesting from appearing on various podcast is often times the host will acknowledge that they know that 95% of their daily actions are unconscious but do not do anything about it.

    Kelly provides some great wisdom on this topic. First of all, she says that often times people didn’t know they could do anything about it.   • Four Powerful Emotions – That Will Instantly Change Your Life

    In this episode of The Missing Secret Podcast, John and Kelly play a short clip from the legendary Jim Rohn, one of the founders of the personal growth industry. He talks about four powerful emotions that will instantly change your life. John then plays the clip. After the clip, John and Kelly talk about it. One of the emotions discussed is getting to the point where you say “I’ve had it”. John notes two times in his life when he had reached this point. Another one of the emotions is the attitude of get it done – rather than continuing to try to make a decision. This is so true. People will agonize over making a decision. It’s paralysis by analysis.

    The other powerful emotion is desire. The “want to” to make a change in one’s life. And then the last one is resolve. Being determined to make the change. Then John and Kelly talk about something John is observing in a number of people he is close with. At around the age of 30, people are trying to really figure out what they’re going to do for career. That’s a natural time because it takes until you’re about 30 to figure out what your strength is and know what’s up in the real world.

But you have to play into what your unique talent is. And factor in the future. Things are changing so quickly you have to figure out what career has longevity to it.
