Building a business can't be done alone and it should be easy to find and employ talent right? In this episode, we look at why this is not that easy!

In Episode 4 we look at finding the right talent for your business. We think it is an important conversation because not only do a lot of startups fumble when it comes to finding the right talent but at the same time, there are a lot of challenges with the kind of "talent" one finds out there.

The youth unemployment rate in South Africa is stupidly high. It's like 66% which for us is a crazy high stat. It shows that the biggest problem in our country is the lack of jobs right? But why is that a problem in the first place?

Why is that a problem when there are startups such as ourselves that are wanting to find talent, wanting to employ people and give people the opportunity to do better for themselves?

Why is it a struggle? Why are we so unemployed? What's going on?

Welcome to episode 3 and this time around we bring you our first guest! Someone who is also young, like us :) , an entrepreneur, and knows the roller coaster ride of trying to carve out one's own path.

On the show today we have Thato Tshabalala, a young man doing amazing things, in his own right. He is the founder of Native Scope Communications a township-first marketing company which has its ear to the ground by remaining ethnographically led. This means that the work he does comes from the point of view of the people who live in the townships and the needs within those areas. This allows Native Scope to make very informed and intentional decisions when it comes to creating solution strategies be it in marketing, advertising, activating brands or selling products and services in these locations.

In this, our second episode we take a look at how switching from waged employment to self-employment is something which requires a huge mental shift, and we wanted to talk about the ways that we have coped with it thus far.

For those of you working a 9-to-5 job, we're all familiar with how mentally draining it can be and we take nothing away from that in the least. When you work for someone else, you have to please others in very specific ways. You need to make sure you stay within your lane and respect various boundaries and in many ways, this is the same for you once you go solo but there are some other considerations which are interesting to explore especially if you are considering this as a path for your future.

The ability to be an entrepreneur isn't learned in a classroom. Nothing quite prepares you for what it's actually like to become your own boss, having to manage everything from finances to customer service and all the unexpected skills you realise you need but which you never even thought you would ever need to attain.

Now, this kind of shift may sound daunting! But it's not all bad news. If your business succeeds, you succeed and more than often those connected to you are also uplifted in a number of ways.
