SmackDown tonight wasn’t bad.

And that might honestly be the worst thing I can say about it.

Because WWE is not supposed to leave you feeling nothing. You’re supposed to love it or hate it, cheer it or boo it, argue about it online like it personally offended you. Instead, this episode just… happened. And then it ended. And I walked away feeling absolutely nothing. Empty calories.

There were good things.
Oba Femi confronting and straight-up punking out Cody Rhodes was a moment. That felt big. That felt intentional. The U.S. Title match delivered, Lash Legend winning was cool, and there were sparks here and there that reminded you what this roster can be.

But then we get to the go-home show energy… or lack of it.

A mixed tag main event with Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest vs Aleister Black and Zelina Vega, a nasty botch aside, just didn’t feel like the closing statement you make when John Cena is about to wrestle his final match ever. All eyes are on WWE right now. Casual fans, lapsed fans, lifelong fans. This is the moment to swing big.

And instead, SmackDown felt safe. It felt flat. It felt like everyone was just killing time until the real show.

This wasn’t a train wreck.
This wasn’t offensive.
This was worse.

It was dull.
And apathy is the real enemy.

Last night’s SmackDown wasn’t just frustrating — it was the breaking point. Not because LA Knight lost. Not because Carmelo Hayes lost. Not because John Cena was given 36 days when he literally asked for 220. Tonight’s SmackDown was one of those episodes that just makes you stare at the screen like, “Why would they book this?” I absolutely hated this show. Carmelo Hayes losing? LA Knight losing? That is not exciting. That is not shocking. That is straight-up horrible booking that kills momentum for two of the most over guys in the company.

Yes, Gunther is worthy. Gunther is always worthy. But even with that, the route they took tonight feels like it was designed in a room where nobody has watched WWE for more than ten minutes. Carmelo didn’t need that loss. LA Knight definitely didn’t need that loss. The crowd didn’t deserve that either.

Cody Rhodes did great. Solo Sikoa did great. There were individual performances worth praising. But the episode as a whole? Terrible. Frustrating. Just really bad decision-making from bell to bell.
