Mystic Caravan Circus is on the move after their winter break. First stop? Moonstone Bay. Poet Parker and crew are looking for a permanent location because traveling won’t be an option for much longer. They’re expecting a normal trip. They’re getting so much more...including a mystery. The day after they arrive, a body drops in the ditch across from the city park, and what follows is a series of bone-chilling events that revolve around the island’s children. It seems something weird is causing them to act out of sorts...and they might just have murder on their minds.

Winter break is upon Mystic Caravan, which is supposed to mean a full month of rest and relaxation. Upon arriving at their destination, however, Poet and company find that murder isn’t far behind. Their off-season park is full of paranormals - something that normally makes Poet comfortable - but the death of a local girl points to one of their own being the culprit. Even though she’s supposed to be taking it easy, Poet can’t stop herself from digging…and it leads her on a wild ride.

Avery Shaw likes to win. Unfortunately, her single-minded focus on being declared victor tends to get her into trouble. That’s never more true than when she decides to take on her archnemesis Tad Ludington. With an election coming up, Avery is ready to let her freak flag fly in an attempt to get Tad to show his true colors on television...thus sabotaging his chance at getting into office. That backfires when, after a truly epic meltdown, Tad is shot and left for dead in his own home.

Things are shifting in the organization, new faces are joining the fray, and manager Poet Parker isn’t certain how to deal with it. Unfortunately for her, she doesn’t have time to figure it out. Kentucky is on the horizon, and a roadside accident that claims a family has caught Poet’s attention. Witches are descending on Hemlock Cove and the town is gearing up for mayhem. Bay Winchester is ready to cover the event for her newspaper, and is excited to see faces she hasn’t interacted with in more than a decade. Then the unthinkable happens. The local blacksmith shop catches fire and Bay and her cousin Thistle risk death to try and rescue the owner. Unfortunately, they’re too late, and the man is unable to be resuscitated. Not only that, but it wasn’t the fire that killed him. No, he was murdered.

Izzy Sage is settling into her new job, enjoying her new romance, and only has one thing on her mind: choosing a new assistant to help her at Belle Isle’s death gate. All of that changes when the gate malfunctions. Instead of dragging someone over, though, it sends five people back. Years ago, a group of trainees disappeared while on a tour of the facility. There was no rhyme or reason to what happened, and the higher-ups assumed they died during the malfunction. Five of them have returned though, and they haven’t aged a day.

Halloween is Avery Shaw’s favorite time of year. What’s not to love? Slasher movies, hot chocolate, and corn mazes. She’s addicted to them all. During a visit to one of those mazes, she runs across several men trying to kidnap a teenage girl. In true Avery fashion, she intervenes...resulting in a severe injury. While she’s on the mend, she starts tracking information on a group of people working in the area.

Life on the streets wasn’t what she had in mind for her forever, and she jumped at the chance of joining Mystic Caravan Circus when an invitation was extended. She didn’t look back. That was 10 years ago, and now Poet is going back to the exact area she used to haunt...and she’s nervous. The friends she left behind are scattered. Some are dead. Some have moved on to other things. Some turned out to be something else entirely. Others simply disappeared into the wind.
