Long before the kingdoms of Islandia, there ruled an empire. For 2,000 years the world lived under the reign of Edonia. Yet, even the strongest of empires cannot stand forever. Opulence, corruption, betrayal, and bloodshed have sunken their deadly tendrils in Edonia's court. When news of rebellion threatens to bring Edonia to its knees, the emperor must act to save his empire.

The devastation of the Felled Ones has passed. In their wake, the rulers of Islandia must pick up the pieces. Hard fought peace hangs in the balance, while new dangers seem to rise from every dark corner. New Valkara - led by the usurper Jorn - lurks in the north. Rebel forces rally to the cry for a new kingdom, led by a vengeful Aiden. Rumors of even greater danger sweep across the land. Whispering lips speak of foreign vessels landing on Islandia’s shores. Many still cling to the hope of a New Dawn, yet the shadows deepen over the kingdoms of Islandia.

A Dark Descent continues the Kingdoms of Islandia story. The High King Eloy has returned and with him a dire warning. Darkness permeates every corner of Islandia. Rumors of the Felled Ones return are whispered in the streets. Can the Kingdoms of Islandia unite under their returned King? Or will they fall into a dark descent?

Iggy Risner is your typical wise-cracking 12-year-old. When his younger brother, Oz, wakes him in the middle of the night claiming he heard a monster in the attic, Iggy takes him upstairs to prove him wrong. After 30 years most have long since stopped looking for Eloy's return or the darkness foretold. Many under Richard's rule have grown discontent and jealous of his appointment.
