Upon graduating from the FBI academy, newly minted Special Agent James “Fitz” Fitzgerald heads to his first office - New York City. Once there, Fitz is immediately assigned to the highly-respected bank robbery squad. The investigations begin. Before long, he’s involved in the arrest of serial killers, murderers, robbers, kidnappers, extortionists, and pedophiles (including a fellow FBI agent), all on his way to a promotion to Quantico to the profiling unit. Fitz’s first assignment as a profiler is to the Unabom task force in San Francisco.

In this book I start with the Atlanta Olympics bombing; then discuss the FBI agent/Russian spy working alongside of me at Quantico; then the JonBenet Ramsey case, or at least one very interesting aspect of it; the abortion doc assassin; the TV lawyer/pundit who almost got me fired (even if unintendedly); the murders of two Dartmouth College professors; 9/11; the anthrax case; the DC sniper case; my time in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; oh, multiple profiling and/or forensic linguistic cases in which I provided expert testimony; and the ongoing evolution of the FBI's Profiling Unit.

Fitzgerald also discusses how his story was turned into the character portrayed so convincingly by actor Sam Worthington throughout the eight episodes of Discovery Channel’s original scripted series, Manhunt: Unabomber.
