When Carver finds out that Rich Polaski, a man he served with in the SEALS, is on an NSA watch list, he goes to warn him out of a sense of duty. He arrives in the small town of Bickham, Illinois, a spotless town with almost zero crime, no chain stores, and an aesthetic from a time long past.

A mysterious cube was stolen by the mechanists.

Before he can do anything, Hermes, the new king of the gods, sends his demigod children to trap Cain, Hannah, Fred, and Layla on Sarpedon so they'll be permanently out of the way. After realizing escape is impossible, Cain and the others go through the tear and end up in a distant dimension that seemingly branched from Gaia Prime eons ago.
