When Matt logged on to Zombie Wars Online, he expected another fun-filled night of zombie killing with his friends. Under the spell of the Felote, a gaming apparatus that forces the player into a controlled REM sleep, reality faded away, and a new life began. It was the perfect escape from the harshness of everyday life. But when a malicious hacker takes control of the game, a new nightmare begins, far worse than Matt and his friends could have ever imagined.

The game is changing as Matt and his friends discover that their favorite past time has been taken over by hackers, and they're locked inside. Survival no longer just depends on elements inside of the game. In the outside world, players are dropping like flies from dehydration. Now the question is, which will kill them first, the zombies or the elements outside of their control?

The fight for survival continues as Matt and his friends realize that soon they'll need to take to the zombie zones to find more resources. The search for water is more dangerous than they could have ever imagined. With the odds stacked against them, will they be able to find enough water to keep the entire group alive?

It's game on as Matt and his friends embark on the high school mission in hopes of finding water to support their group. Matt discovers that zombies aren't the only predators in Zombie Wars Online. Will he be able to pull himself together, or will the hopelessness of the game finally push him over the edge?

After a new obstacle is unleashed by the hacker, Matt and the guys decide to take the girls out into the field for some zombie-killing action. All seems well until an unexpected twist causes the death of one of their friends, and the group is threatened to be ripped apart as tempers flare.

Matt confronts Cade to come to terms with their differences. With supplies running low and new twists being continually added to the game, the guys have to decide if it's worth the risk to go on a very dangerous mission. The outcome could spell life or death for their entire group.
