Classic Horror Fiction

The classic horror story from H.P. Lovecraft that started it all and introduced to the world to Cthulhu. Originally published in 1928, this edition includes an introduction by Jen Aldrich, narrator of the audiobook.

"The Monkey's Paw" is the best-known work of writer W.W. Jacobs. Generally acknowledged as one of the most disturbing and brilliant works of short horror fiction ever created, the story was first published in a larger collection of scary stories released in 1902 called "The Lady of the Barge." When the story begins, we meet the White family — an older couple and their adult son — who are given a strange and mysterious talisman: the eponymous dried monkey's paw that is said to grant the owner three wishes.

This collection by Robert W. Chambers was first published in 1895 and features stories loosely tied together with one theme, the supernatural. Many of the stories in The King in Yellow were not received well by the critics of the time due to their supernatural undertones. Some of the stories mention a play by the same name that had been outlawed in some regions of the world. It was thought that the play could induce madness in those who viewed it.
