As old allies turn on each other, as an unassuming presence in yellow walks the lands of dreams, as an empire falls, a group of people is gathered to fight the threat that the rest of the world decided to ignore. Whether for their own self-interest, or just because it is the right thing to do, they are the only ones that can stand against the greatest threat their world has ever seen.

The Resistance is fractured. The remaining survivors are buckling under the might of the malicious Tyrant King. Enter Roark von Graf, hedge mage, lesser noble of Traisbin, and one of the last freedom fighters. Desperate and unhinged, Roark crafts one final attempt to overthrow the king. The plan goes awry, and Roark finds himself tumbling headfirst into an interdimensional portal. On the other side, he finds himself stranded in an unexpected place - an ultra-immersive fantasy video game called Hearthworld.

All 17 of his girl's former lovers would suffer in virtual reality until they snapped. For the first 16, the project succeeded. But the 17th was different. The 17th was Dark.

I died and was accidentally reborn as an [angelic monstrosity]. So now I'm building a holy dungeon-tower that is tall enough to reach the gods...so that I can complain about it! But the humans think that I am trying to destroy the world.

So far so good, but Los Angeles is a big city with a bunch of safe zones that need saving, and there are ton of innocent people who are gonna die if we can’t do it. Luckily, my party has the skills to get it done. Unfortunately, The System isn’t so simple. There is a power monster lurking beneath the Earth in SoCal, and it is planning to trigger a massive Earthquake that will destroy the entire west coast, safe zone or not.

The apocalypse has been and gone. Now, Bain Lee and his faction are setting out to escape the Crucible and what has become of Earth. Nor was Earth the only world brought into the Crucible. Bain gathers allies from across numerous diverse species, each with their unique classes and powers. But it's the other humans posing the greatest threat.
