Labor Economics

This is a book of proposals I put together for the new administration and nation to review, with reasons for them. As we witnessed in this past election, there were millions of disillusioned citizens out there willing to start a civil war when their candidate lost. I strongly believe that the basic reason for the discontent had been feeling isolated from the round table of strangers who made decisions controlling their lives.

What We Mean by the American Dream investigates how we think about whether an individual deserves an opportunity, job, termination, paycheck, or fortune. Taussig looks into the fabric of American life to explore how various people, including dairy farmers, police officers, dancers, teachers, computer technicians, students, store clerks, the unemployed, homemakers, and even drug dealers got to where they are today and whether they earned it or not.

The dark side of the gig economy (Uber, Airbnb, etc.) and how to make it equitable for the users and workers most exploited.

Jamie Merisotis, author of the award-winning 2016 book America Needs Talent, argues that people will coexist with smart machines by learning, earning, and serving others over their lifetimes.
