Memoir Poetry

Poetic Madman showcases and celebrates the creativity and the ability to express my innermost thoughts, ideas, emotions, philosophies, and raw experiences that come with having paranoid schizophrenic disorder. Poetic Madman is sure to open the minds of those who don't understand mental illness and hopefully help to dispel some of the stigmas. The purpose is to give the listener a different take on what they understand to be true about the illness. You may even identify with some of the experiences expressed throughout this work of art.

Looking back is often like looking in a mirror - all the imperfections are obvious. This is the journey of how two women look back saw their past reflections and use them to do good. How they managed to smooth out the path ahead. How they reconcile themselves with who they are and who they will be. Every path has a crossroad and finding the peace to be satisfied with the choices is part of every journey.

John Pollen (1855-1923) was an official in the Indian Civil Service. A keen linguist, he learned Russian, Esperanto, and Persian and in 1915 published an English translation of The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. His collection contains 158 quatrains and includes a set of seven prefatory quatrains by Andrew Lang and a foreword by the Aga Khan.

Eric looks at the world through the prism of his Black life in America. He expresses himself in poetry and prose. He explores the humanity of the world and faith. Anger and love blended together and compiled from his Facebook posts over several years. He grew up in Chicago around mostly Black people the first 13 years of his life. He was exposed to Whites in high school in a limited and, sometimes, hostile manner.
