Here in one recording are both of L. Frank Baum's Santa Claus stories: "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus", and "A Kidnapped Santa Claus". In "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus", Baum gives us a glimpse into the magical history that surrounds the life story of Santa Claus. In "A Kidnapped Santa Claus", we find out what happens when Santa is kidnapped shortly before Christmas.

Excessive fondness for elaborate and expensive clothing allows a pair of dodgy tailors to hoodwink the emperor. The story is largely autobiographical, telling the simple tale of an argument between a husband and wife, reflecting the difficult time Lawrence and his new wife Frieda were having. The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes was a radio show which aired in the USA from 1939-1950, most famously starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson. Episodes from 1939 through 1943 were written or adapted by Edith Meiser from the books of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. From 1943 onward, most shows were written or adapted by the team of Dennis Green and Anthony Boucher or Green and Leslie Charteris who replaced Meiser who left the show over her disagreements with a sponsor over the amount of violence in the program.

"A New Way to Spend Christmas" describes a Christmas visit to Randall's Island in the East River, where orphaned and sick children are looked after. A charitable woman brings gifts and spreads "sunshine in that shady place" to the unfortunate children who live there.
