Hvidsten Kro mellem Randers og Mariager var centrum for en modstandsgruppe, der opstod i marts 1943. Den blev ledet af kroejer Marius Fiil. Opgaven var at modtage våben og sprængstoffer nedkastet fra engelske fly. Modtagepladsen, der lå få kilometer fra kroen, blev af englænderne kaldt Mustard Point. Hvidstengruppen bestod af 15 mænd og kvinder, heriblandt kroejerens søn og svigersøn samt to af hans døtre. Gruppens indsats blev et symbol på modstandskampen.
