Aileen Carol Wuornos (February 29, 1956 - October 9, 2002) was an American serial killer. Between 1989 and 1990, while engaging in street prostitution along highways in Florida, Wuornos shot dead and robbed seven of her male clients. She claimed that her victims had either raped or attempted to rape her, and that the homicides were committed in self-defense. Wuornos was sentenced to death for six of the murders and was executed in 2002 after spending more than ten years on Florida's death row. John Wayne Gacy (March 17, 1942 to May 10, 1994) was an American serial killer and sex offender who raped, tortured and murdered at least thirty-three young men and boys between 1972 and 1978. He became known as the "Killer Clown" due to his public performances as a clown prior to the discovery of his crimes. Gacy committed all of his known murders inside his ranch-style house in Norwood Park Township, Illinois. Twenty-six victims were buried in the crawl space of this home, and three were buried elsewhere on his property; four were discarded in the Des Plaines River.
