Imperial commissar Ciaphas Cain returns to Nusquam Fundumentibus to crush the ork attacks which have been plaguing the frozen planet. But when his ship crashes into the wastelands outside the capital it disturbs a far greater enemy, one which has lain dormant under the permafrost since long before the Imperium came to this world and could now threaten the whole sector.

Abducted by aliens and whisked across the galaxy, Cal is thrown into a team of misfits and criminals and sent on a top secret mission for the president of Space. And that's when everything starts to go very, very wrong....

The Earth lies in ruins in the aftermath of an extraterrestrial invasion, the land devastated by a desperate war with no winners between mankind and a race of vicious, intelligent creatures. The seas are drying up while the atmosphere corrodes and slowly cooks any life remaining on the now desolate rock. Food is scarce, trust even more so, and the only people left alive all have done horrific things to stay that way.

Véra vit dans la galaxie d'Andromède, située à des centaines d'années-lumière de la Voie Lactée, et donc de la Terre ! Là-bas, beaucoup de choses sont différentes, à commencer par les habitants aux noms bizarres : les Euphémériens, les Magniox, les Irisiens et les Cortéxiens. La petite extra-terrestre au caractère bien trempé passe des journées fantacosmiques avec ses copains d'école et son robot-chat B54 ! Véra doit s'occuper d'un adorable "bubule". Ça ne doit pas être très différent d'un robot ! La petite extra-terrestre n'est pas au bout de ses surprises.

When the Hadarak took over a world, they killed everything they came across in the way of animal life. Sometimes smaller rodents would escape the purge if the Hadarak did not have their tinier forms in production that could actually catch and kill them, but in general, once a planet was fully "consumed", there would be no lifeforms on it except Hadarak.
