『長ぐつをはいた猫』 あるところに粉引き職人を父にもつ三人の兄弟がいました。ある日父が死んでしまい、その遺産が三人に分け与えられました。兄さん達は粉引き小屋やロバをもらった中、三男は猫をもらいました。「猫は食べてしまったら何も残らない」と、三男が言うと、猫は「そんなに悪いものでもないですよ。私に長靴と袋をください」と言いました。猫は、自らが捕まえた獲物を袋に入れ王様に献上し、徐々に王様と親しくなってゆきました・・・。本作品は発表時の未熟な時代背景から、今日の社会では一般的でなく、不適切と思われる表現が含まれている箇所がございます。しかし作品のオリジナル性を最大限に尊重し、なるべく当時のまま忠実に再現することを優先いたしました。
