Story
What’s the most pressure you’ve ever been under? How did you react? What helped? What didn’t? Over the past five years, Dane Jensen has asked these questions of thousands of high performers - from Olympic gold medalists to Navy SEALs, politicians, executives, and busy parents. What has emerged from these conversations is that while everyone’s experiences under pressure are unique, pressure follows patterns and develops in predictable ways. If we can recognize the patterns, we can improve our ability to sidestep the biological traps that can sabotage us....

Story
Toughness has long been held as a fundamental key to achieving peak performance. For generations, we've been taught toughness means bulldozing through—pushing to the point of breakdown—and that showing any sign of weakness is failure. This model of toughness has long been glorified and celebrated. But the truth is, it doesn't work. Steve Magness, a performance scientist who coaches Olympic athletes, now offers a new kind of toughness—real toughness—that can help anyone navigate adversity. Real toughness works with our biology and psychology; fake toughness fights against them.

Story
After a few billion years of bearing witness to life on Earth, of watching 100 billion humans go about their day-to-day lives, of feeling unbelievably lonely, and of hearing its own story told by others, the Milky Way would like a chance to speak for itself. All 100 billion stars and 50 undecillion tons of gas of it. It all began some 13 billion years ago, when clouds of gas scattered through the universe's primordial plasma just could not keep their metaphorical hands off each other. They succumbed to their gravitational attraction, and the galaxy we know as the Milky Way was born.

Story
In her lively social history of American women and aging, acclaimed New York Times columnist Gail Collins illustrates the ways in which age is an arbitrary concept that has swung back and forth over the centuries. From Plymouth Rock (when a woman was considered marriageable if "civil and under fifty years of age"), to a few generations later, when they were quietly retired to elderdom once they had passed the optimum age for reproduction, to recent decades, American attitudes towards age have been a moving target.

Founded in London in 1717 as a way of binding men in fellowship, Freemasonry proved so addictive that within two decades it had spread across the globe. Masonic influence became pervasive. Under George Washington, the Craft became a creed for the new American nation. Masonic networks held the British empire together. Under Napoleon, the Craft became a tool of authoritarianism and then a cover for revolutionary conspiracy. Both the Mormon Church and the Sicilian mafia owe their origins to Freemasonry.

He has made a practice of helping people transcend their self-imposed expectations in order to reconnect with a state of innocence from which the surprising becomes inevitable. Over the years, he has learned that being an artist isn’t about your specific output, it’s about your relationship to the world.

Everyone should listen to this book
This book is hard to listen sometimes. Because it makes you feel pain.
I thought it was more about his history.
But his history was very though, very though.
But you will learn a lot from this book.
It's a book of lessons that you can apply to your life. To make it better.
He is correct.
Because when I was having problems understanding something or having problems finding a solution for a difficult problem with programming.
I always did do puzzles after my meal. If I didn't have any space. I did so some Tetris or something like that on my cellphone.
It always helped me to find a solution easier.
My parents always thought the least of me about work and where I would be today.
At least I did listen to them. Because I would not have done much.
Today they do not know what to say.
My brother did go to the best schools. Me I did go to the regular ones.
I did achieved more than him until now.
I really liked this book. So much knowledge.
You should really start listening to it soon.
The last note was too much. So I just skipped and press a button to say that I did finish the book.

I lived these notes with Quincy
I have heard and learned from and live a better life from each note of this book. Since 1973, I have witnessed Quincy's veracity and greatness as a man, a mentor, a producer and best of all as a friend. Meeting Quincy was in the stars for me as the philosophies he lives and shares with us here is a faithful continuation of life lessons I gleaned from my Dad...the only man who has had more influence on me. Quincy's humanity and spiritual generosity is massive and bottomless. His empathy is immeasurable as is his quest to learn something new every day...12 Notes brings me back to those enlightening moments when Quincy, in just a few words. (quite often wrapped in humor) has changed and enriched, injected humor and shined a new light on the courses of my life. His words give me hope or challenge me to find a new path and the courage to be myself. I love you, Q, and no words can express how happy it makes me to see these precious words and stories are now being shared with the world. Thank you sounds too tame as to how grateful I am for you...Tommy Bahler.

Great Life Lessons
If you know Quincy Jones you know he has something important to say and he says it well in his book! As he tells his story you visually get a glimpse of his life and you feel the experiences and you know his advice is coming from a good place. When he published his book he was 89 years old and full of life lessons that we should all listen to. I’m thankful I brought this book because it’s a harsh reminder that life is short live it as best you can and avoid unnecessary mistakes or regrets. He gracefully reminds us all to live our best life as best we can.Thank you Quincy Jones!
