À propos de cet audio

Torture. Darkness. Loss.

That's what the Fae king has planned to break her. But Elessia is prepared to fight. She is ready to fight her way out of the king's claws, fight to save Havlands from rebels and Fae alike, and above all, fight to return to the one she loves.

In the end, it's her own life she might need to fight for the most. Even though her mate will do anything, including ripping the entire world to shreds, to keep her safe, there is nowhere to hide when the gods themselves are after you.

It was okay, but I definitely feel like every book in this series grabs me less and less as it goes on. Overall plot was pretty good, but found the dialogue a bit sloppy and repetitive. Might just be me, but I struggled with the male narrator performance as well.

Okay

The story was fine, yes there was a little more swearing than the previous, but the thing that actually made me stop listening was the Male voice actor’s inability .. to read?

It sounded like a terrible bot, SEVERAL pronunciation inconsistencies between chapters, weird pauses and really uncomfortable reading cadence that almost ruined Marrick’s character for me. He was actually so so bad. I’m going to have to return this and get the physical book because I genuinely cannot tolerate another chapter of his reading :(

Male voice actor is TERRIBLE

I am flabbergasted by the low ratings given on this book, and I don’t understand the reviews, so I want to address that first. It almost seems like they’re reviewing a different book. There are comments on the f word used frequently; the MMC does curse more often, typically in moments of passion, but it is not every other word, and it certainly doesn’t consume even 5% of the book in total. There’s also comments on there being pornographic scenes; this book does have spice, and more than the previous two books. The scenes are more explicit. But again, the amount of scenes are no where near what some really spicy books have (I’m thinking maybe 6-7 in total?). It’s totally ok if you’re not into spice, but that’s not fair to lower the review- you shouldn’t be reading or listening to this book then.

Ok, onto the positive, well, sort of to begin with. We all know Anthony Palmini is divine. He did narrate a bit in the previous book but only the final chapter I believe. I wanted to love him in this narration, but he just didn’t fit what I had in mind for Merrick, who felt more brooding, gruff, Geralt from Rivia (the Witcher) style. Especially in the spicy scenes, it just felt like I was listening to Kingfisher from Quicksilver (now don’t get me wrong I love that man). Both of these men actually are my top two favorite MMCs, but for very different reasons, so that was a little hard to meld Anthony’s voice to the character of Merrick. But, still enjoyable.

I found the plot pacing to be spot on. There was a nice shift in sceneries and advancement so things didn’t start to feel like they were lagging. I actually found I became a lot more attached to the sub characters. I love the development of Reign and Frelina. I also grew attached to the Siphon twins, even though there wasn’t much of a spotlight on them. Without a spoiler, when the one thing happens to the one twin, I was actually crying, which I rarely do.

I also love me a cliffhanger as much as I hate it, and boy did this one end on one with a lot of questions! I can’t wait to eat up the next one.

Such a great continuation!

I enjoyed the books, the ending hooked me to read the next, but I absolutely can’t stand the halting, fragmented male narrator. I’ve heard him in other books, and his odd pacing, lack of inflection, and toneless recitation is utterly distracting. Maybe he should read the book and try to understand the character before attempting to narrate it. The story is good, but the character development lacks a little bit, without giving anything away, she fell in love in the first book with her first love interest, a little quickly, and confusingly. The female narrator is terrific, and overall the stories are worth the read.

Good story

I feel like Loche is getting shafted. I feel like bad for him for some reason! I really like him and his character. I hope he has something good in the next book. I love the dragons, ships, battles, friendships. And the narrators make the characters come to life. I like this book.

Poor Loche
