About this listen

Living on an island plagued by magic and mythical monsters isn’t a fairy tale...it’s a nightmare.

After Keelynn witnesses her sister's murder at the hands of the legendary Gancanagh, an immortal creature who seduces women and kills them with a cursed kiss, she realizes there’s nothing she wouldn't do to get her back. With the help of a vengeful witch, she’s given everything she needs to resurrect the person she loves most.

But first, she must slay the Gancanagh.

Tadhg, a devilishly handsome half-fae who has no patience for high society—or propriety—would rather spend his time in the company of loose women and dark creatures than help a human kill one of his own.

That is until Keelynn makes him an offer he can’t refuse.

Together, they embark on a cross-country curse-breaking mission that promises life but ends in death.

The heroine is really a bit of a dishrag, but the ‘hero’ is fantastic.

It’s actually a very interesting story of a leading lady who changes her views on the “us” vs “them” (being the fae”) and learns to see them as people, not monsters.

I suspect that might be triggering as it really mirrors racial biases. Might want to skip this if you’re not going to be ok with that.

The will they/won’t they romance bit goes on a bit long for my taste. I feel like it drags out so much it jumps the shark at some point towards the end. I feel like the book could be shorter and be better.

The performance is in duet, which is really the main reason I purchased this audiobook. It’s beautifully done.

Kept me busy.
There’s a few things that The autor could have address… but I enjoyed it.

Love it!

Seriously amazing

Ok first, the story is amazing: exciting, swoony and full of twists and turns.
Second, the performance is IN DUET and it is positively perfection. I loved it so much.

Good god you need to listen to this.

I overall loved this story and the writing. I was hooked from the start with it's great pace, twists and turns of events, unique elements and fun characters.
The main male character was perfection, everything you are looking for in a fantasy romance book boyfriend. Hot, swoon worthy material, powerfull, smart with a snarky side, tortured hero, that will do everything for the woman, and more.
It tells on how good the writing was that it kept me going even though the female main character annoyed me to no end. I felt she was obtuse and close minded and I was waiting for her character to grow, but it took a long time to come. On top of that, her arc wasn't super clear and coherent, the changes in her weren't as consistant as I would have wanted.
I feel that there was unused potential within the story, elements that weren't explored enough to be supported or become an intrinsec part of the story.
An example is the curse on the characters that prevents them from lying. It was such a fun idea, I would have love for it to be used more to create twists in the story. Although, it prevented a couple of miscommunication situations that would have happen without it, more than there already was, so this was a plus for me.
Also, I felt the conclusion fell flat
I was expecting a bigger climax.
Regarding the audiobook, I'm not sure I agree with all the choices that were made for the female main character's narration.
I still highly enjoyed this book and want to read the next book in the series.

What a great read!
