About this listen
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes book three in her beloved Flesh and Fire series…
The only thing that can save the realms now is the one thing more powerful than the Fates.
After a startling betrayal ends with both Sera and the dangerously seductive ruler of the Shadowlands she has fallen madly in love with being held captive by the false King of the Gods, there is only one thing that can free Nyktos and prevent the forces of the Shadowlands from invading Dalos and igniting a War of Primals.
Convincing Kolis won’t be easy, though–not even with a lifetime of training. While his most favored Revenant is insistent that she is nothing more than a lie, Kolis’s erratic nature and twisted sense of honor leave her shaken to the core, and nothing could’ve prepared her for the cruelty of his Court or the shocking truths revealed. The revelations not only upend what she has understood about her duty and the very creation of the realms but also draw into question exactly what the true threat is. However, surviving Kolis is only one part of the battle. The Ascension is upon her, and Sera is out of time.
But Nyktos will do anything to keep Sera alive and give her the life she deserves. He’ll even risk the utter destruction of the realms, and that’s exactly what will happen if he doesn’t Ascend as the Primal of Life. Yet despite his desperate determination, their destinies may be out of their hands.
But there is that foreseen unexpected thread—the unpredictable, unknown, and unwritten. The only thing more powerful than the Fates…

Too much sex
Great story. I know the story is fantasy genre but the main character is a 7 foot tall Chad with a baby seal between his legs. Sheesh!

This one answers a lot of questions !
Love this series even more than from blood and ash! This book was great in the sense that it had a lot more information about how these two storylines and books are connected and why. I did feel like it was a filler book BUT it was still entertaining and kept my interest. The only thing that I found irritating is that for the last hour of the book it really felt like there was no more story, just spice and more spice. Don’t get me wrong, I love the spice…but like it really didn’t need to keep going on for THAT long. One thing I wish the author included more of was information on the ancients, I found it so interesting and I’d love nothing more than a book about their story too ! Now that I’m finished I cannot wait for the next one though !

Left with too many unanswered questions
It felt like this book was in need of some serious editing.
it could have easily been re-worked into something great, but as it stands... meh.
I feel like a lot of what I was excited to learn was completely missed or barely touched on.

Not worth the wait
Very little happens throughout the entire book. Can skip this one and wait for the next instalment.

What a whirlwind of emotions!
Man my anxiety was really high for the first 60% of this book!
I wish she wasn’t captive as long as she was but we learned so much in that time that it was important.
***Trigger warning ⚠️ there is lots of talk of lack of consent but Jennifer wrote about it perfectly the education and mix of emotions (there’s a non consensual feeding & he releases in his pants, with her on his lap so there the talk of moisture on the back of her dress and then her taking a bath and the emotional response. There is no rape scene to worry about thankfully, but there is a conversation with another female who will not admit she’s been abused. Again the way Jennifer wrote this was well done) but this may be triggering for some people so I felt a trigger warning was needed!
Sera goes through so much and is so strong, her love for Ash is so beautiful and powerful the last 1/4 of the book is just amazing!
Their love story is one if the best I’ve ever read! And you gotta love the spice at the end!!!
I knew what was being held in that box is Ash’s bedroom! 😆

Good stuff!
Loves how Sera was able to manipulate Police. I can't wait to see what happens to them all in the last book! and the ending parts when Nyktos goes full primal was good and spicy!
