Publisher's Summary
The Instant New York Times Best Seller
Everyone is talking about!
An addictive, must-hear mystery with shades of Serial and Making a Murderer about an investigation turned obsession, full of twists and turns and with an ending you'll never expect.
Everyone in Fairview knows the story.
Pretty and popular high school senior Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who then killed himself. It was all anyone could talk about. And five years later, Pip sees how the tragedy still haunts her town.
But she can't shake the feeling that there was more to what happened that day. She knew Sal when she was a child, and he was always so kind to her. How could he possibly have been a killer?
Now a senior herself, Pip decides to reexamine the closed case for her final project, at first just to cast doubt on the original investigation. But soon she discovers a trail of dark secrets that might actually prove Sal innocent...and the line between past and present begins to blur. Someone in Fairview doesn't want Pip digging around for answers, and now her own life might be in danger.
And don't miss the sequel, Good Girl, Bad Blood!
"The perfect nail-biting mystery." (Natasha Preston, number one New York Times best-selling author)
What the critics say
“A fun, gripping, and skillfully constructed novel of suspense. I loved Pip - her relatable quirks, her inventive investigative approach, and her willingness to step outside of her safe world in search of the truth.” (Emily Arsenault, author of All the Pretty Things)
"Dark, dangerous and intricately plotted - my heart literally pounded." (Laura Steven, author of The Exact Opposite of Okay)
"Well-executed.... A treat for mystery readers who enjoy being kept in suspense." (Kirkus Reviews)

Good plot but writing style + details a little juvenile
I overall enjoyed this book and felt the plot was great in that it was very well thought out. I found myself developing a slight distaste for the story towards the end because I found some of the details a little outlandish.
I found it hard to believe certain characters would fall for some of Pippa’s self-serving rouses knowing she was a relatively naive teenager with unstable evidence.
Overall I appreciated the plot line and I couldn’t guess who was behind the crime really at any point, a key characteristic of a great mystery!

Good story, amazing performance
The story itself was good, easy to follow with a logical and slightly surprising conclusion but the performance/effects they used to tell the story is what made it memorable for me. The audio effects when they did phone calls, the little text sounds when sending text messages, the slightly muffled sounds on audio recordings made the whole thing feel more realistic. Overall a good listen.

This was a really really good one!
Although the performance lack to little bit of emotion and enthusiasm and could be quite loud, The story and the plot in itself was really good. This was the fastest book I finished on audible. I thought the twist at the end was unique and I never saw it coming. The end of this book the main character makes a good point that there is no good and no bad in the story it is a very great area and it makes you question your own beliefs about good and bad. *****small spoiler****** I wish the speech at the end was a little bit more inspiring and well written. But other than that it’s been a really good read and I will give the series a try!

Overwrought, even for YA
Ugh, by some act of masochism I got through this whole book. Every now and then I will read or listen to a YA novel, and I always consider the audience and cut the author some slack accordingly. But this novel, contrary to the glowing reviews, is terribly overwrought even for a YA story. The lead narrator is equally cloying, as she repeatedly overdramatizes with too much vocal emotion and intonation, not sounding like a real person, and making the story feel like sappy melodrama. I wrote this review in an effort to put a tiny dent in the high average rating for this book, as I believe that rating is misleadingly inflated.

A murder mystery that you can’t put down
This is a great murder mystery story. Although the protagonist is a teenage girl, this isn’t typical YA fiction; anyone who enjoys a good mystery, filled with twists and compelling characters, will enjoy the book.
The sound effects and other voice actors add a level of realism that you can’t get from just reading a book. Along with the main narrator, who is one of the best I’ve heard, all the sound effects and voice actors make the story much more real and present in your mind.

It's a book produced like a movie
The story is really good. The writer knew how to throw the reader off. In a way that had me guessing until the end. That is all I have to say without giving away too much of the story. Now this audio was fun to listen to. It made it fun. It's a whole cast. Wow I would like to say more but I don't want to give anything away. My dad got me this audio so review by Anais ;)

Listened to this in one Sitting
It was rough in the beginning, I had this book for several months now and everytime I started the novel the first 10 minutes of the audiobook was hard to get into, I think it might have been how the beginning was written, but one day while I was at work (today 9/26/20) I clicked listen to audio book and since I was at work wearing my mask to cover my earphones and phone in my pocket it left me with no choice, but to listen without pausing and its a good thing I did because man oh man this book is really good.
I loved all the extra bits and nobs that this book had to offer. it left me questioning all the way to the end. and the ending threw me for a loop. I was able to predict one aspect of the story line but not the others and I love that I wasn't able to guess the ending. like I said on Twitter, I've been on a reading slump since 2009 and I haven't finished one book in one sitting for so long. The fact that a 400 page novel was able to do that is impressive. and I am also taking the time to write a review let that sink in.
What kept me going was the fact that this novel felt like a crime junkie podcast and I enjoy listening to their podcast. so I kept listening to this audiobook. I also like that the main character Pip, likes listening to murder mystery podcasts.
in conclusion, I highly recomend listening to this audiobook. if u like crime junkies you would enjoy this novel.

Verrrrrry Veronica Mars.
The story was interesting, the narration was great. This would be a good TV show, as the lead Pippa is spunky and strong and brave. The only issue I had with it is probably one that doesn’t exist when one reads the text itself rather than listening to it. There were so many characters, especially male characters, that it was difficult to keep up with who was who.

I highly recommend this Mystery Romance!!
WOW!!! I guess I didn’t expect this to be so good!! It was excellent!! I love a good Mystery Romance and Young Adult too!! Every time I thought I had things figured out (to some degree) there was a major twist that threw things off!! And Pip was a GREAT MC!!! You have got to read this one!!!
Also the Audible version has a full cast and was really really AWESOME!!!

Tedious and Wordy
I'm all about details in a story but this was way too much! Too wordy. The descriptions went overboard to the point I started skipping parts. I had to increase the speed just to finish this. I'm returning this book.
