Publisher's Summary

This story picks up exactly where book one left off. The Talbot family is evacuating their home amid a zombie apocalypse. Mankind is on the edge of extinction as a new dominant, mindless opponent scours in search of food, which happens to be non-infected humans. In this book are the journal entries of Michael Talbot, his wife, Tracy, and their kids, Nicole, Justin, and Travis. With them are Brendon, Nicole's fiancee, and Tommy, previously a Wal-Mart door greeter who may be more than he seems. Together they struggle against a ruthless, relentless enemy that has singled them out above all others.

The Talbots have escaped Little Turtle but to what end? On the run, they find themselves encountering a far vaster evil than the one that has already beset them. As they travel across the war-torn countryside, they soon learn that there are more than just zombies to be fearful of. With law and order a distant memory, some humans have decided to take any and all matters into their own hands. Can the Talbots come through unscathed, or will they suffer the fate of so many countless millions before them? It's not just the brains versus the brain-eaters anymore. The stakes may be higher than merely life and death, with eternal souls on the line.

Narrator Review

One of the best narrators in the business. I am definitely a fan. Looking forward to the next book.

Zombie plot with a twist

The story is good and Narrator is also good, I should not complain book was free. The author at times goes down the rabbit, sometimes it's funny and gives perspective and others it feels like filler to stretch out the book. The reason for 4 stars.

Talbot and his adventures are written so well I wonder what they are doing at work. Tufo genius.

Fun.. But Overly Ambitious

Suspending disbelief enough to accept a Zombie Apocalypse scenario is *already* challenging. Mark Tufo has the temerity to add vampires and elaborated psychic powers to his tale, however. That level of added implausibility took me out of the story.
To be sure, irreverent & sarcastic protagonist 'Mike Talbot' continues to deliver a laugh-out-loud inner dialogue, Tufo's writing skills are capable (although never going to win any awards), and the description is mind's-eye vivid.. but the plotting in this installment of the series is simply too ludicrous for immersion.

Reader Sean Runnette tries his best to elevate the book with an impressively interested performance, too (his deadpan delivery shows a spot-on understanding of the author's intention, and he clearly enjoys the rollercoaster-ride action).. but can't quite manage it.

In toto, 'Book Two of Zombie Fallout: A Plague Upon Your Family' rates a disappointing 5.5 stars out of 10. As a 'Plus' selection, it was an enjoyable bit of brain candy for a couple of frozen afternoons (it's minus 43⁰C where I am), I suppose - but better options beckon for your Credit. Before listening to this, I had thought of downloading further books in the series.. but Nah.

[Note: Tufo's continued fixation on poop and stink is strikingly juvenile. The book is full of R-rated content and waaaay more F-bombs than Book One (it's not suitable for kids), but your 8-year-old would otherwise giggingly love the ever-present fart jokes.]

almost a 4 but...

I really like the story but in this book the amount of mindless, waste of annoying patter in an attempt to make every other sentence some kind of humorous joke is almost so nauseating as to make it impossible to JUST GET ON WITH THE STORY.
He's a funny guy... OK... but enough already. stop trying to make this a sitcom with a lame laugh track.
