Publisher's Summary

In this installment, the story is laying the groundwork for the Avengers to press forward the mark of the high calling set before them. Dr. Brody and Dr. Jennings are assuming the previous positions in the facility. It's their job to portray their old selves and deceive their fellow workers into believing they haven't changed at all. Dr. Brody assumes his chamber department position, Dr. Jennings her directorship, but will it work?

“It’s unwise to jest, to chide death. Its anger lingers yet unknown years aft it inflicts its deed. Sinister to the senses, piercing to the soul, it throws its dart until no target remains, and sore remains the memory. Can there be no backlash, no rebuttal to void this greeting that leaves dark stains upon one’s destiny? Regale me with yet another sonnet, entice us with its bravado. Recant those more callous, hurtful, and acrimonious to the soul. And in doing so, chafe not my heart asunder.”

Alexandra, Fred, and Harry outside the burning Archives awaiting a US Marshals officer. Inside the mainframe at the Pandora Project, the Entity has issued its final ultimatum, and Ben has been expelled. Dr. Brody has followed a trail of breadcrumbs that's led him to those responsible for stealing classified information from his office. Claude, the courier, has been ordered by Mr. Thompson, the senior guard who allowed him to escape, to finish the mission or face exposure. Marcus Moore, a secret service agent, is questioning his role in the meeting held at 2800 Pennsylvania Avenue, where only the investor's group have met for an update.

For an unexpected reason, Marcus had decided not to tell his wife about the meeting's topics of discussion for fear of her becoming a target. Dr. Brody's discovery of the video has spurred a new series of questions that involve La Tulipan and the Entity in the Pandora Project's Mainframe. Dr. Winters is on her way to her private jet to fly to Trenton, where she'll connect with Dr. "A" and Jackson Stafford. Jackson Stafford, full circle and now he's asleep in the "dream room" where Ben has sedated him for a while to come. Ben has assumed control to get him through what he calls a very difficult time for the candidate.

The end of Absolution has the listener in the setting in the NSA office where FBI director Drummond has just entered to give his account of what the Project is all about. The Post is printing the story, and it'll be on the street corner in several hours. Harry, the defector from the "Watchers", is free and on his way to new life. The adventurers are about to appear in the front room of the club in Trenton through the portal that's forming. The Avengers are searching for the right virus to upload into the sister location to stop the activation and the culling. Dr. Brody, Dr. Jennings, and Willard Thompson are about to hash out the events of the day, leaving Willard with some explaining to do about why he let Claude go free. The senator's assistant and the president's press secretary have exchanged shots about who is responsible for the revelation. Marcus Moore is now debating whether he's been had or if he has an option. And Gustavo has unwrapped the secret of the ages and found the one truth no one wants to know.
